Fandom culture’s gotten so weird in the past couple months. Like, just in 2017 we’ve had:

a fanartist getting fed cookies with needles in ‘em bc they shipped something that another person didn’t agree with

someone taking photos of an animation studio’s unreleased work and putting said studio under actual legal fire bc that person threatened to keep sharing them publicly unless that company made a ship canon

Dream Daddy, a LGBT+-friendly game made by LGBT+ people, being out for barely a week and people are already receiving death threats and others are giving out false info about the game bc some people aren’t into Game Grumps

Seriously, are y’all okay?? Like, I know people are entitled to their opinions about ships and stuff, and sometimes making your voice heard about problems in works of fiction can lead to positive change in some aspects, but like???? honestly??? if you think hating on ships/making your ship canon or w/e is worth someone’s health/safety/job, you really need to rethink your priorities.

I hope Studio Mir sues the fuck out of that superfan and has them thrown in jail for harassment too. Sharing copies or derivatives of production work that hasn’t been officially released without consent falls under copyright infringement. Most studios are incredibly strict with sharing unreleased work unreleased. I took a tour of Weta Workshop in New Zealand and they wouldn’t even let us have our phones out for this exact reason; they don’t want us sharing photos/videos of production work. I’ve done art tests for studios wanting to hire me, and often, they tell me not to share the work with others because of copyright reasons.

But all 3 of those bullet points are why I never associate with fandoms. Ever. There are just way too many batshit insane people in them.

Would like to correct bullet #2 because it’s slightly incorrect. A fan was given a tour of Studio Mir, but didn’t realize they weren’t supposed to upload any photos from the tour online. They uploaded them to tumblr, people pointed out it had unreleased content, they quickly took it down, but of course people had already reblogged it/took screenshots. OP asked people to take it down as did studio mir, and basically everyone scrambled to delete any images that were reblogged or posted.

It was only a few people on Tumblr that refused to remove the content and it was a twitter user that made the threat about making the ship canon or else they wouldn’t remove the content. The OP made an honest mistake and tried to rectify it best they could. But they WERE NOT the ones that made the threats to the studio. I watched this whole thing go down from start to finish.

can we talk about the decontamination scene in s2 e4 is because

Keith pouting with his arms crossed because he’s not happy about this and he and Lance are side-eyeing each other because OF COURSE THEY ARE. poor Hunk is completely covered in squishy asteroids because Lance was using him as a shield the entire time.

Pidge hates every second of this. Keith is still pouting. Shiro has decided to set an example for good hygiene and Lance follows suit albeit much less enthused. Hunk looks up, amazed at the miracle that is water.

Keith is still pouting he hasn’t moved at all. Shiro continues to be a role model. Lance flashes back to every embarrassing moment in his entire life. HUNK IS HAVING SO MUCH FUN LOOK AT HIM

they’re uNDER WATER AND KEITH IS STILL POUTING WITH HIS ARMS CROSSED. Lance is surrounded by his own element and feels at ease, stickin his legy out. Hunk is goodness incarnate.
