In the world of fashion, there are creatives and then there are visionaries who transcend titles. Fred J. DeVito is one of those rare individuals whose journey is not confined to a single lane, but rather expands across art direction, photography, storytelling, and cultural documentation.

To call him a photographer would be limiting, To call him an art director would only tell part of the story. Fred J. DeVito is, as he defines it, an imagemaker, a creator of moments that live beyond time.

From iconic campaigns and historic collaborations to the quiet poetry of street culture, his work captures not only what we see, but what we feel. In this exclusive conversation, we explore the journey, the purpose, and the legacy of a man who continues to shape how we view the world through imagery.

In this exhibition, the photographic work of Helmut Newton and Steven Klein are united because they both share an inclination for the erotic, the fetishistic, the humorous, and the glamorous. Elements that have universal appeal. Helmut Newton has long been known as an icon of fashion photography and scandalized magazine readers in the 1970s and 1980s with his charged and witty depictions of sex and power. From the 1990s to the present, Steven Klein has taken up Newton’s baton with his equally provocative images while reflecting contemporary attitudes about beauty, gender, and sexuality. Scene: Malan Breton unveiled his Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear and menswear collections during New York Fashion Week themed The Age of the Machine, The Heart of Humanity. The presentation was an immersive, theatrical experience that blended high fashion with Broadway-style storytelling.

A celebration of reinvention and beauty as a form of resilience with inspiration from the Gilded Age. The designs featured a mix of 19th-century richness and futuristic lines with rich silks, brocades, and bold metallics.

[Street Scene] New York Men’s Day Spring/Summer '26 https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/nymd-spring-summer-26/ 65 image story — Scene: New York Men’s Day opened New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026. The all day event is an eclectic assortment of emerging brands. The Designers showcased here are Clara Son, FIT Collective, Max Esmail, Oxblood Zebra, and Joseph McRae. NYMD is an AgentryPR initiative intended to help nurture emerging talent and consolidate the showing of contemporary menswear and genderless collections.

[Street Scene] Disco Chalet! https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/disco-chalet/ 95 image story — Scene: Saturday night revelers gathered to dance and party in harmony at the après-ski Disco Chalet with lots of hatitude. The Annual Winter event took place at Inness, luxury hotel and resort, in the Event Barn, Accord NY. The popular ski-culture dance experience was created and produced by Sean B Nutley and DJ Laura Lynn. The music penetrated the house by DJs Greg Wilson and Laura Lynn with White Rabbit Audio by Thomas Russo. Personal style pursued vintage vibes with present tenses and future visions.

[Street Scene] Past Presence https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/past-presence/ One image story — Scene: Past Presence Holiday Collection featuring Model Yasmin Le Bon. She is wearing a Jackie Rogers dress, M&J Savitt earrings, and FDR Drive bracelet. Yasmin (née Parvaneh) met Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran after this photo session. Simon saw Yasmin in a magazine with this ad and tracked her down. They were married in December 1985 after meeting in 1984.  Their marriage is noted as one of the longest-lasting celebrity unions from that era, known for its resilience and mutual support. Yasmin and Simons story represents a strong partnership that has thrived personally and professionally. They have three daughters: Amber, Saffron, and Tallulah. Here I am taking a video with my cell phone of Dustin Pittman's photographs. Manhattan Magazine, Editor-in-Chief Phebe Wahl, and Mara Gredick Publisher, proudly hosted an enjoyable and stunning evening at the Soho Grand Gallery, celebrating its 2025 Arts Issue by honoring Dustin Pittman and his exhibit, Chasing Fashion's Cutting Edge.

[Street Scene] Trick or Treat! https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/trick-or-treat/ 56 image story — Scene: Paul O’Connor and Christina Osburn's Annual Halloween Gathering. It's that time of year to celebrate at their home when the landscape turns to vibrate colors and hues. Oranges, reds, yellows, ochre, and sienna dress the trees for an autumn show while the leaves sway in a rhythmic rhythm back and forth, creating a play in itself. The crisp fall evening brought friends and characters together to cheer the spirited festival. It was full of delights as guests arrived. Smiles and hugs. Some in costume, some not. The mood was happy as the party goers gathered with conversations, drinks, treats, and stories. Happy Halloween!

Silvers and golds glistened, accented with vivid colors and hues as the disco beat sang through the venue. The subtle sheen and luster of blacks shimmered. Denim, leopard, lace, and patterns too. Knee high socks with 70s basketball jerseys and shorts. City and country folks came together as happy people to roller skate and party with the sound of disco emanating. The night was bright for vibrant times. And then the After Party.

Scene: Nancy Donahue and Harry King’s 17th annual fashion reunion party at Slate NY. The annual event is highly anticipated by family, friends, and fashion and beauty stars. Sparkling glamour, cocktails, conversation, and dancing the night away channeling the Studio 54 days of disco as the DJ's turntable played music to our delight. The vibe was upbeat and happy. Party people on the town!

This exhibition is an overview of Denis Piel’s varied career. It includes his sensual and cinematic photographs for Vogue in the 1980s and his abstract Padièscapes works, which are inspired by his organic sustainable farm in southwest France. His photographs were more influenced by filmmakers such as François Truffaut and Stanley Kubrick.

[Street Scene] NYFW Michael Fausto https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/nyfw-michael-fausto/ 29 image story — Screen: Michael Fausto’s Spring/Summer 2025 Debut Collection. A luxury women’s wear line that centers around the line of myth and modernity. A graduate of FIT, Michael Fausto spent his time post grad training in the ateliers of Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, and Badgley Mischka. The theme “Castellamare” follows the summer of an Italian debutante as she explores “la dolce vita”. This fast-paced party girl is sent to a family palazzo in Sicily and is ultimately forced to adapt to the coastal lifestyle. The historic and ornate home she is now living in is filled with luxurious textiles and family heirlooms. As curiosities begin to mix with her high society style, a creation emerges as a juxtaposition between the slow and the fast, the old and the new, and the sleek and obscure.

[Street Scene] Back to the Streets https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/back-to-the-streets/ 60 image story — Scene: Fall/Winter personal style on the streets, in cafes, and in the subway. I’ve been posting stories of NYFW Designers and events, and now “Street Scene” is back to the streets which was its original focus. From designer runways to the runways of the streets. Personal style from basics to high end. From the subway to Madison Avenue. The “street” approach to style and fashion is based on individualism rather than focusing on current fashion trends, creating a result that reflects vitality and a blend of styles that embraces the energy of the street.

Street Scene] NYFW PH5 Come Knit https://fredjdevito.com/streetscene/nyfw-ph5-come-knit/ 38 image story — Scene: PH5 Fall / Winter 2024 collection by designers Wei Lin and Zoe Champion. The presentation was titled Come Knit With Us. At the presentation some of the models were knitting as others were reading The New York Times, holding clipboards and calculators, channeling the concept knitting is not only crafty or for grandmothers, but also for business people and executives. They chose Halston-esgue interiors with a vast view of lower Manhattan overlooking the East River at the WSA building. This collection was focused on knitting, their specialty. Scarves were a central element beautifully draped with whimsical twists.
