Supplies:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (such as Knit Picks Dishie or Lily Sugar and Cream)
Note: a solid, lighter color will make it easier to see your stitches
US 8 (5 mm) Knitting Needles (these or these are good)
Darning Needle (these or these are good)
Tutorials:
Knitted Cast On
Knit Stitch
Bind Off
Note: Very Pink Knits on Youtube has a massive collection of excellent tutorials.
Suggested First Projects:
Dishcloth
Cast on 45 stitches. Knit every stitch until the piece is roughly square. Bind off.
Coaster
Cast on 20 stitches. Knit every stitch until the piece is roughly square. Bind off.
Note: scarves are often recommended as first projects, but they can get very boring. For a scarf to be usable for an adult, it will generally need to be at least 60 inches, which is a lot for a first project. That's why I like dishcloths. If they look wonky, they'll still function.
