#I've said this so many times but it bears repeating because I want to save other people from the same fate:#I used to think I had to get along well with literally everyone and if I didn't it was my fault for not being a nice enough person #and this extended to my first relationships. I believed that being a good partner meant forgiving them through everything and #compromising all my wants and needs while they didn't really have to #a lot of this was patriarchal brainwashing and a lot of it was religious trauma. I think a lot about how much better my life could have been #if I had been raised in a society that gives a shit about people lol. anyway #my point is that I got hurt and used and disrespected over and over until I realized that my wants and needs matter too #and sometimes you just don't mesh well with someone and that's okay as long as you both treat each other with basic human respect #but as for relationships lmao #a lot of men get into relationships with women thinking about what they can get out of it and not giving a single shit about #their partner as a real actual human being #and you don't have to put up with that!!!!! you don't even have to be in a relationship at all!!!!!#being single is better than being in a relationship with someone who doesn't make your life better #and there's nothing wrong with wanting to be loved. but please love yourself first. please trust that wanting to be respected and #treated well is not asking too much. relationships should be balanced and both people should show each other love and support #it shouldn't be just one person exploiting the other's love and effort #and on that note: all my exes can go fuck themselves
