Incredibly violent take of mine but I actually don’t think you need to relate to a story in any way to enjoy it. You can enjoy a story even if you can’t point at a character and insert some aspect of your personality or identity into them. In fact I would argue the need for a character like that to be present in every single story you experience is a sign of stunted growth.

I really hope the timeline for this next Seekers/Schemers/Thaisha arc is less strict. For each of the three initial arcs they were all very conscious of how many episode their group was going to get before they had to head back to Dol-Makjar, and I think it was to the detriment of the character development. The Soldiers were the only group that seemed to have any time to breathe, the other two were very go go go because of the plot.

One of the things that makes The Mighty Nein enduring to me is that we see the silly side quests and moments when the world isn't at stake. So far, nothing like that has been seen in campaign four. I want to see them talk by campfire, and have random encounters where the chances of death are slim to none. I want the characters to feel like they have a genuine connection to each other.

It's not that I'm not invested in the characters or story, but I think a lot of it is potential right now.
