Spotify playlists.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as being delighted by a song you love, playing on shuffle from a playlist that you yourself curated. Yet it is inexplicable that it comes as such a surprise, because it shouldn't be. It was you that selected this song and added it to said playlist. And yet, there is something doubly feel good in the first few bars hitting your eardrums, followed by the satisfaction that you chose it. It's like catching yourself off guard with a little present for you, from you. Gift-wrapped. This is not just a song you enjoy, endlessly, but more proof of your exceptional taste (as if it were needed.) Oh yeah, I love this song. Oh yeah, it was me. Perfect.
With that in mind, we are taking today to celebrate the creation and curation of #spotify playlists, or, indeed, your streaming service of choice. They serve any mood, any moment, any purpose. Feeling melancholy at midnight? In need of soothing sounds to accompany cooking? Big, bold, and colorful songs for a blue sky sunny day? Mellow music for a bath? A NSFW saucy soundtrack to after-hours, post-watershed shenanigans? Something exciting and upbeat for Saturday night, and something else indulgent and sad for Sunday?
Whether a personal collection for your own private listening, or a collaborative compilation shared amongst friends, the simple act of creating these patchworks of sound—a musical moodboard, if you will—is simply the gift that keeps on giving.

Another day another slay reminder that platonic friendships are as good as romantic relationships. At the end of the day, you just need someone who loves you and sticks with you. It can be a friend, or a lover. <33
anyone of any gender or identity can use whatever pronouns they want. trans men can use she/her, trans women can use he/him, nonbinary people don't have to use they/them or neopronouns, genderfluid people don't have to alternate pronouns, anyone can use they/them, it/its, ze/hir, xe/xem or neopronouns, cishet people can use whatever pronouns they want. anyone can use whatever pronouns they want
pronouns are not locked or tied to genders. destroy the binary in your mind that dictates that pronouns have an assigned gender, presentation, or identity. they don't. the only thing a pronoun set means about you is that you like to use those pronouns. have fun, be yourself
I'm probably missing some good ones but I ran out of space. Play Aconite.
During my first month with my therapist, I was given this worksheet to read and work on. She noticed that while I was talking with her, that my thoughts followed a lot of these. I wasn’t aware that my anxiety had brought me down paths of low self-worth and stinky thinking. After a couple of weeks of talking with her, she gave me this worksheet to work on.
While, at first, I thought these weren’t going to work out, I was very surprised to see just how easy they were to use . My homework at that time was to identify which sort of thinking I used on the regular and which ones would best challenge them for me. So, what do you think? Do any of the maladaptive thinking patterns sound like you? which ways would you like to untwist your thinking?
HEY guess who needs this? I do! And chances are some mutuals may like to see it as well.
Def saving this.
This is so helpful, not just for the action suggestions, but for the codification of all the things my brain tells me, that make me feel lousy. This is great, Cory. Thank you.
don’t you know it’s not good for your hair to wash it every day. you have to use sulfate and paraben free shampoo. you have to wash your hair with conditioner instead. you should stop washing your hair for a month because actually your scalp has the natural ability to maintain itself. greasy hair can make your acne worse so make sure you wash it every day. you have to use this three step regiment on your face EVERY SINGLE night. buy this $70 serum and use it with the 10 other serums you have but don’t combine them. don’t use anything on your face except a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. do NOT use moisturizer on your face you are DESTROYING your skins natural moisture barrier! acne is just for teenagers you’ll grow out of it :) oh no but adult acne is sooooo common. just take birth control and your acne will go away. cut out all sugar and dairy and your acne will go away. actually those studies are fake, get light therapy treatments instead. take accutane and your acne will go away, only a couple of those kids killed themselves! shave your armpits because it looks better. if you shave your armpits you’re not a feminist. actually shaving your armpits is for HYGIENE. wax your legs. wax your bikini line. but waxing any part of your body can give you ugly ingrown hairs and permanently damage your skin and follicles and besides that’s the patriarchy. (but get laser hair removal instead.) don’t have an eating disorder because that’s too much but definitely do intermittent fasting. don’t eat carbs. don’t eat sugar. don’t eat fat. actually your brain uses carbs as its main energy source. actually fat is necessary but only good fat. you have to DRINK MORE WATER!!! drinking 8 glasses of water per day is a myth. burn fat and get toned by doing these exercises. but cellulite is natural and 99% of women have it so you HAVE to embrace it. take diet pills. ummm don’t you know those are meth?? take NATURAL diet supplements for weight loss. take THESE vitamins to cure your depression and clear your skin and make you better at sex and make your vision better and speed up your metabolism and make your digestion better and make you focus better. i know the ONLY right answer but you have to pay me for it. follow my blog! listen to my podcast! subscribe to my email newsletter! buy my snake oil!!

my friend Alicia made this video to show you the correct way to pronounce "axolotl"! it's a Nahuatl word that gets mispronounced so often, often for puns right here on tumblr dot com, so I wanted to share this with you all because it's important to respect Indigenous languages. you can find her artwork here!
[video description: a person with a warm skin tone and shoulder-length dark hair faces the camera, sitting inside a car. she is wearing a peach-pink shirt that matches her lip color, patterned wooden hoop earrings, a golden necklace, and big black-framed glasses.
transcription:
hey guys! um i wanted to make a quick video just because it’s been coming up pretty regularly, especially since i’ve been posting videos of the babies as they’ve been like developing, kind of gestating in their eggs, um how to say the name of the species correctly.
so first of all their name is a nahuatl (/nawat’/) word. nahuatl is an indigenous mexican language, it’s spoken by 1.5 million people in mexico, as many as a million i believe in the southern united states. um, nahuatl is present in a lot of my artwork, um, it’s a very important language, very special language. um, and so i would love to show you all how to say their name correctly.
it is not axolotl (/aksalətəl/) [phonemic for screenreaders] axe oh lotel. it’s axolotl (/aʃʌlɔt’/) [as phonemic as i can get it for screenreaders] asholot. axolotl. a-sho-lot’. /t’/. axolotl.
um, now that can be challenging for english speakers because it’s an ejective t, um, which is present in a few indigenous languages, but is not present in english. but if you wanna practice, go for it, if not there’s several different dialects of nahuatl in mexico and some of them just straight up drop the tl and use a k. so if you want you can even say it axolotl (/aʃʌlɔk/). [as phonemic as i can get it for screenreaders] asholok. and that would also be correct. um, i think even the spanish pronounciation is closer to how you would actually say it: ajolote (/ahəlote/) [phonemic for screenreaders] aha loh tay. that’s even closer than (/aksalətəl/) [phonemic for screenreaders] axe oh lotel.
um so i just wanted to make this video and share with you all how to say their name correctly so we can [excited] decolonize science! [singsong] decolonize science a little bit! and uh honor some indigenous languages! thank you all!
end video description]
(apologies if the phonetic vowel transcriptions aren’t perfect - phonetics aren’t my strong suit!)
hearing her in the video, but not sure where to start on making the ejective t sound yourself? “ejective” (in linguistics, anyway) means “pushing air out through your throat”. the [t] sound is a dental sound, which means we make it by pushing our tongue against our teeth. try making a “t” sound like you normally would, noticing how your tongue flicks against your teeth, and then add a push of air to it. it almost sounds like “tch” but not quite - there’s no solid “ch” there, but there should be that “snap” of air to it making it distinct from the english “t” you might be more used to!
