Persona 3 is the first game from the franchise that I played and completed(persona 4 was the second and I'm still finishing persona 5).
I first heard about Persona when I was searching for some Anime to watch and I stumbled upon Persona 4:the animation.
I know what you are going to ask.
"Why didn't you play persona 4 then? Why did you start with persona 3?"
It's simple, I already knew what was going to happen in persona 4 so I decided to play the previous game of the franchise, Persona 3.
Let's finally start the review.
I absolutely love Persona 3. The main reason is: I love the atmosphere and the themes it touches. I also love the battle mechanics and the soundtrack is something that I listen to everyday.
Why don't we analyse this?
The atmosphere is dark, it can be seen from the background of every character but the friendship they share and their personalities make it a little lighter and bearable. We can also see how their friendship grows and becomes more like a family (Something that I absolutely adore).
The characters were very deep and most of the times sad, even the social links with those outside sees, that is something that I wasn't expecting, since persona 4 was a lot more happier and relaxed (That is why persona 4 was the one I enjoyed less, I'll explain in another review). Personally my favourite characters were Ryoji, Ken and Junpei. They are the characters who, in my opinion, grew the most during the whole game.
The battle system was... Well I have to make a distinction here. I played all three versions of persona 3(p3, p3fes, p3p both male and female) and there are a lot of difference. I personally preferred p3p because you could control your team members directly while in the others it wasn't possible.
What do I have to say about the soundtrack? Absolutely nothing. IT'S PERFECT.
You probably noticed that I still didn't talk about the plot, right?
Well, I'm not one to cry easily but at the ending I couldn't help myself. The plot is very good and it shows how much the creators worked on it. The plot twists are amazing and I always cry on October 4th and on March 6th.
I also watched all the movies.
Now I'm in the mood of rewatching it and it's 3 am.
