i have nothing against hiccstrid but *some* of their fans need to chill out.
every time i see someone on tiktok or pinterest comments say that they don’t ship hiccup and astrid together, as they ship one of the characters to another one, others would freak out and be like “how dare you!1!1!!!” and pull out a long capitalized comment on why they should ship hiccstrid instead. they literally blow up every time someone ships hiccup with someone else as a silly post.
it varies for everyone’s personal experience upon encountering other httyd fans where in this case scenario, hiccstrid fans. i’ve personally met ones that have been lovely and talented, but also some that harass others and don’t seem to respect others’ opinions. so remember some people’s encountering experience won’t be all the same to others.
but important note: of course not all fans are like this. i also know a lot of amazing and kind-hearted hiccstrid fans that have been respectful to others, and has shown and contributed a lot of support within the fandom. i do appreciate a lot of hiccstrid fans. there is after all those types of toxic fans in a lot of fandoms.
i’m not the biggest fan of romance, so i’m cool on a lot of hiccup’s ships since i mainly love httyd because of it’s elements of platonic and familial love, so i don’t have a preferred ship over another, i’m fine with a lot of them. i don’t dislike hiccstrid at all, and i won’t deny this couple is also a part of both character’s development. this post is just an important note to all that no matter what, be respectful to others especially in regarding of ships because not everyone will share the same preference of you and ship wars is ridiculous. let’s accept each other’s preference.
