people keep saying it’s about the vibe of it but i don’t mean that, it’s more like: pup petplay is like, you’re a thing that isn’t really a dog or a person but is somewhere in the middle. dog petplay is a vehicle for therianthropy
Pup Petplay is about adopting the aesthetics of a dog (or other animal, it’s an archetype) and the resulting dynamic into a kink scene to create a dynamic between two people. it can be as light or as dark as the participants want
Dog Petplay, on the other hand, is about interacting with someone who already is a dog (or other animal) in a kinkified context. similarly to the above, it can have whatever tone the people doing it want, but it’s different in that it only works if you have an understanding that the creature you’re interacting with already is an animal but their body doesn’t convey that, in a way that is more akin to intimacy with a very early-transition human. the second can be the first but the first can almost never be the second
