does anyone else feel kind of slutty refilling soap bottles
the soap that inspired it all
You know that feels really fucking good for the empty soap bottle
Every couple years we switch up the clownfish pairs in broodstock and this week we just retired a bunch of the older males and added new males. Some of those pairs already had eggs when we made the switch and I assumed the new males would just ignore them and let the female take care of them, but I have now seen several of the new males pick up where the old males left off and start actively tending to the eggs. They saw unattended eggs and went âalright I guess these are mine nowâ
you gotta get them a "the father that stepped up" coffee mug or something
honestly i think the reason why itâs so common for kids to have the âitâs not a phase, momâ argument in their adolescence is less because they genuinely plan for their current state of being to remain utterly unchanged forever and more because theyâre tired of having their interests/self expression/beliefs/etc dismissed as foolish due to being probably temporary
i know that when i was that age i certainly wasnât thinking about whether or not iâd be into whatever shit i was into then when i was 80, all i knew was that i was sick of feeling like the adults in my life were just rolling their eyes and waiting out everything that was important to me at that moment
This but make it domestic Spirk:
Maaan, this Ernest Chiriacka illustration has been in my K/S inspiration folder for over a year now!! Thank you for making this postâthis was the push I needed to finally make it happen xD

I think about this like once a day
disabled ppl we need to start lying to nosy people okay? you tell me i'm too young to need a cane and i will tell you point blank that maybe you should tell that to the guy who ran me over. you don't get an explanation of my health issues you get lies and depending on how much of an asshole i want to be that lie will be anything from a humble car crash to a 1 billion lions attack. mind yr business.
"i could never live like that" well maybe you'll have to because this happened overnight. yeah you heard me i was the most able bodied man in the world but then one morning bam i woke up disabled. yeah you could have that too. there's no cure either you'll just wake up one morning and now you have to live like me
"what happened" well have you ever seen looney tunes? yeah an anvil landed on me and squished me flat.

why do closed captions keep pretending english is the only intelligible language? when a character speaks spanish what exactly is forcing your hand to transcribe it as "[speaks foreign language]" rather than "Si"
This intersection of Anglocentric bias + ableism and audism makes my blood boil.
People commonly defend this practise with "But the audience isn't meant to understand!" or "It's inconsequential!", neither of which actually address a) their assumption that the [ideal Anglo] audience wouldn't understand, or, perhaps most crucially in the context of CCs, b) that this is a failure of accessibility. A hearing person who speaks that "foreign" language will know exactly what's being said. A deaf or HoH person â the people CCs are primarily intended for â who speaks or reads that language should therefore have the exact same opportunity to understand. It very much feels to me like an assumption that we deaf and HoH people couldn't possibly understand any language but English, so there's no point in getting those languages transcribed for us. I hope it goes without saying how profoundly audist that sentiment is.
There is also, I think, a profound misunderstanding or ignorance of Deaf culture at play. Which is to say, CCs in English-language media are written with not only the assumption that the audience will be native English speakers, but that all d/Deaf and HoH people speak English as their first language, so all other languages are as supposedly foreign to them as they are for hearing people. But sign languages are their own distinct language. BSL, ASL, ISL, AusLan, NZSL etc â English (and are indeed different from one another), LIS â Italian, JSL â Japanese, and so on. So, if you follow the captioners' logic to its natural extreme, all non-signed dialogue is "foreign" to many d/Deaf and HoH people and should therefore be labelled [speaks foreign language] / [speaks English] / [speaks own language] / etc. â which is, obviously, a terrible idea that perfectly highlights all the biases implicit in closed captioning.
TL;DR: your accessibility feature fails in its function as soon as you fail to transcribe all spoken languages.

You can teleport! How does it look?
Puff of smoke
Leaving someone's sight and suddenly you are gone
Fading out of existence
PowerPoint animation
Transforming into a flock of crows
Portal
A trapdoor that isn't there when someone checks
Exploding into confetti
Popping out of existence with no fanfare
Shooting yourself out of a cannon
The Secret Option (tell me)
i don't even want to teleport
Go ahead, make your OC the sibling/child/friend/whatever of an important canon character. Ship your OC with a canon character. Its fandom, its posts on social media/fanfic/fan art. Go for it, have fun, make up your own headcanons.
We're all just here to have fun.
saw this on pinterest but i think it belongs here too
this will never not be important
I just. Love Mandoâa so fucking much. Itâs so great.
They have three different words to describe ways to be stabbed. Bikadinir (to stab with a broad blade; ârun throughâ), chekar (to stab with a small blade, âshivâ), and kalikir (to stab with a narrow blade, âskewerâ).
They have one pronoun. Kaysh. Thatâs it. Buir is just parent, thereâs no mom/dad. No son/daughter, just ad, adâika, ikaad. Child. Vod can mean sibling, friend, comrade. All at once. Amazing.
They have dozens of ways to insult someone. Diâkut, someone who forgets to put their pants on. Utreekov, emptyhead. Najaat, no honor. Dini, lunatic. Kaysh mirsh solus, âtheir brain cell is lonely.â Skanah, âmuch hated person/thing.â Hutâuun, coward. Geâhutâuun, not even notable enough to be called a coward (how insulting is that?). Demagolka, originating from Demagol, the name of a scientist who was so fucking shitty that his name became the worst insult a Mandalorian could call you. And that insult is child abuser, monster, war criminal, someone with no honor.
And then thereâs âshabâ, which we donât have an official definition for, but the fandom collectively agrees it means âfuck.â Because we have shabiir (to screw up), shabâla (screwed up), shabârudur (to screw with), and shabuir (jerk but much stronger, AKA asshole/motherfucker).
And Mandoâade donât say âI love you.â They say âNi karâtayli gar darasuum.â I hold you in my heart for eternity. Like. Are you serious. Thatâs so much better than âI love you.â If someone said that to me I would die on the spot.
Mirshmureâcya means âbrain kiss.â Slang for headbutt, which is a thing Mandoâade do a lot, apparently. And itâs a sign of affection, too. They show affection by gently bonking their helmets together. How adorable is that???
Oh, and shereshoy. A lust for life âand much more.â Represented by orange on their armor. âThe enjoyment of each day and the determination to seek and grab every possible experience, as well as surviving to see the next day - hanging onto life and relishing it.â And that âoyâ at the end of it, derived from âOya!â
âOyaâ, which can mean so many things. A war cry before a fight or hunt. A celebration. An encouragement. âLetâs hunt!â âHoorah!â âCheers!â âThatâs the spirit!â
This post got much longer than I meant it to lol. Iâll stop here. But you get the gist. Mandoâa is a wonderful language and I am in love with it.
for christmas we're deleting the entire show. tally ho you teaboo shits
