2026 MID-YEAR QL CHECK-IN
I mostly look around but this seemed fun to do! Tagging anyone who also lurks and would like to try, please let me see if you do.
1) Number of QL's you've watched so far:
I'm including 2025 shows that ended in 2026 too. So far this year I have finished 18 shows, dropped 8, and am currently watching 8. Lucky 888?
For the dropped shows I will either a) get bored and/or annoyed with something, or b) forget to keep watching and not remember until 3 months later. I got a physical planner so (b) stops happening, it's been helpful.
2) Best QL you've watched in 2026 so far:
Khemjira gets an honorable mention because I only finished it at the beginning of this year, but Fake Fact Lips is my 2026 mid year pick for both heart and silly rivalry reasons.
3) QL that you want to watch but haven't gotten around to yet:
I kept putting off Duang With You but I'll wait for it to drop on Netflix so I can finally watch. I also want to be able to sit down properly with all the 4 Elements installments, Hard Nights and Life In Smokey Blue on my upcoming vacation. (That is too many episodes, says the Void. It's too hot to be outside and social, Void.)
4) QL that was the biggest disappointment for you:
I wouldn't say biggest but maybe Countdown to Yes? I was let down by how the show dragged the (understandably difficult) friends to lovers transition, it felt wishy-washy at times.
5) Most anticipated QL for the second half of the year:
The Journey to Killing You season 2. I really enjoyed the leads and wonder what they'll be able to do given more time. Also because I haven't been able to get my hands on a translation of the second volume.
6) Biggest surprise/favourite new actor (debut or new to you):
Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars's Kagami Kota as Hamaguchi Aomi. He plays Hama-chan as an unstoppable bilingual delight, a joy to watch.
7) Newest fictional crush:
Phob from The Edge of Horizon. My type is a man that looks Solid, interpret that as you wish. Bonus points if they yearn.
8) Favourite QL that made you happy:
Fake Fact Lips again. The special episode made me tear up with happiness ♡
9) Favourite QL that made you cry:
Fourever You Part 2: Beside the Sky. I'm sensitive to the idea of sibling death and those early episodes pack a punch. However, I loved Phoon finding his footing with help from his friends and Tonfah.
11) What QL's do you need to watch by the end of the year?
Khemjira Forever in October. I'll take the CharnJet wedding as a birthday present.
