httyd 1’s design for toothless was the best one IMO . there is just something so Creature about it that is missing from the second movie onward

this was b4 they changed his face to be blockier, have bigger brows. they made him more traditionally cute, and exaggerated his expressions. it’s not a bad thing, but something that isn’t as appealing to me personally. to me He started looking less n less Animal and more Human , n i feel like something was lost there

this is the best comparison i have . they r both the same emotion but the first movie’s design for toothless is way more effective in conveying it. the hostility is literally tangible in the left image. but in the right one you can still tell that he’s angry, but it feels less visceral , less animalistic . too anthropomorphized to be as intimidating yknow !!

NO LITERALLY like I would love to see Icicle unpacked in canon (especially in tandem with Hailstorm and Winter). Like what’s really going on in her head??? She has so much happening, she’s like. explicitely been raised to either kill her mom or aunt, she’s part of the nightmare that is the Icewing royal family, she’s a child soldier, she was being blackmailed by Queen Scarlet, there’s so much here to flesh out

also tbh I expected her to be a much more polarizing figure in the wof fandom??? she has the makings of a Vriska is all I’m saying-

My feelings on Icicle are similar to how I've always felt about Azula from AtLA, where there was so much potential for a really compelling character arc. I would've loved a side story for her or something bc she's,,

Thorn and Onyx? Totally not an excuse to hear your general thoughts on the later- 👀

I'm sorry beans Onyx never clicked in my brain at all besides "oh this girl needs some help". All I got is Thorn opinions babeyy

-I feel like she's one of those ppl who mysteriously can speak like 5 languages, give or take. Like Winter is complaining in Icewing under his breath and she effortlessly answers him back while he just sits there, stunned

-Eats mostly vegetables/insects, I like to think she's used to eating smaller amounts of food and feels weird about eating a lot all at once

-Very organized when it comes to her personal space- she gets stressed when she can't see things

-Has trouble sleeping basically 90% of the time. Her and Six-Claws used to sit together at night/early morning until they both were able to go back to sleep or the day properly started

-it's a mix of hyper-vigilance and just. stress out of the wazoo. Idk if she necessarily has nightmares, but she almost definitely just kind of wakes up in the night randomly and has trouble going back to bed

-In her older adult years, tends to let dragons she knows push her around a little. She just. doesn't like being authoritative with dragons she cares about at all. Her entire life has been her acting tough and being commanding, she can't muster up the willpower to do that with her loved ones

-what I'm saying is Thorn, if given the opportunity, would entirely spoil Sunny/Qibli (Qibli a little less so due to the fact she partially raised him + he needs a little more structure)

-she juzst,,, sh .e, ha sso mu.,ch love in her heearrt for herr kidd,s .,,,,

-Also like the text supports me on this, you can try to tell me ur harsh, mrs Thorn "threw a party for her child immediately, tried to forgive Adder up until the end, lets Qibli burst into her meetings unannounced and drops everything for him" Sandwing, but I'm onto you. I see you.
