ft mainly phil, hinted techno and cellbit at the end
A series of strained coughs escape Phil as his hands scratch at the earth beneath him, the small claws digging into it as far as he can. He tries not to scratch at his neck as he struggles to breath, fearing he might further injure himself if he attempts to.
His wings are cramping in pain as they attempt to stretch out yet curl together at the same time. Eyes slipping shut for a few moments every so often as his forehead rests on the ground, back aching up against the pained wings.
For a very brief moment in the back of his mind he can swear he hears a soothing whisper, guiding him through this just like they have always done.
"C‘mon Phil. You aren‘t gonna lose to that weakling again, are ya?"
Phil wishes he could respond to that playful tease that is yet filled with pained concern at watching his friend suffer with nothing to be done. Nothing to help against the pull into the subconscious, against the burning feeling that floods his entire body as if everything was disintegrating and then rebuilding itself into something new.
But even as he tries to respond, not wanting his best friend, his flock to worry, the only thing that comes out of him is another choked out sob of tears that have been building up in pain.
It feels like he‘s slipping from the world, but it‘s nothing like the times he‘s almost slipped into Her embrace.
"You‘re so much stronger than him. I know that, I know you."
Phil shakes his head, the pain fading into that scary numb feeling and he knows he‘s losing against Him. He‘s not ready to let go just yet but it appears it‘s not his decision to act on no matter how much he fights against it.
"You should ask Fit to help you through this. Even if I‘m not there with you right now, Fit can be."
Fit wouldn‘t be able to handle Him.
Hell, Phil can barely even handle Him, even Techno can barely stand up to Him and that is a thought- no, fact he hasn‘t been able to face for all the many years he‘s trusted Techno with this.
He‘s not strong enough for this, he‘s failed again and what if he doesn‘t return this time? What if He fully takes over today?
What will He do to Chayanne and Tallulah? What about Missa? What about the other Eggs, all the other Islanders- They are all part of his family in one way or another, he can‘t bare the thought of them suffering at His hands. Or his own hands.
"I think you have company."
And just as he hears those fading words, a hand settles on his back, at his wings and suddenly everything relaxes. The tight and choking feeling on his throat and lungs becomes loose, fresh air flowing in.
"It‘s okay, it‘s okay. I got you, you‘ve got this," Cellbit‘s concerned voice sounds through just as Phil tries to sit up, promptly causing his vision to fade to black and have his body almost crash back into the torn up earth again if it wasn‘t for Cellbit immediately catching him.
It takes a couple of minutes for Phil to properly be able to start making sense of the world again, simply sitting there with Cellbit making sure he wasn’t going to black out again.
Well, on one hand Phil managed to fight back against Crimson long enough for him to back off.
On the other hand.. he has no clue how Cellbit managed to find him.
