everyone shut up im reheating ep 2 and i need to take a moment to appreciate svetlana vetrova. she sees ilya suffering with his dad, whisks him off to the bathroom with her and sasha, and proceeds to lay out the path to the cup for him. knows he feels so low and worthless between his fathers disapproval and team russia getting so thoroughly trounced and she builds him back up in under three minutes. reminds him who the fuck he is and that he CAN still be a winner. then she fucks off in case he needs/wants to fuck sasha as an added release (he doesn’t and that’s fine she doesn’t know why yet but she still tee’d him up for it bc that’s her boy!!!!)

carter's nice to ilya too! a lot of fics are like everyone in the mlh not on the raiders hates ilya cause he's pissing them off by beating them and constantly chirping on and off the ice, but carter asks after ilya in sochi and doesn't hesitate to throw his arms around ilya and shane in florida and tease them together. maybe other mlh players are buying the rivalry and believing ilya's a complete asshole but carter's not.
