People don't realize that most maps are actually anti contact and don't intend on actually harming children. Paraphilias are akin to orientations but different in their own ways. the act of csa is not the same thing as the attraction to children, that's a very damaging conflation. People can be attracted to children and not act on it. Many normaphiles commit csa and aren't attracted to children.
Maps generally form an attraction to children at a young age. Being a map is not a moral alignment, it is not a political stance, it is first and foremost an attraction and an identity that is morally neutral.
Thoughtcrimes aren't real. You can't be arrested for having nasty thoughts. The thing that matters is your actions and what you do with yourself. Basically you can be a MAP and still find csa repugnant.
Considering how poorly represented actual maps are in the media, it's a huge stigma society has to work on.
Maps tend to develop their attractions at a young age and generally start internalizing the message that they are a ticking time bomb which is very distressing. Most of the time maps do not choose to be attracted to minors but it happens anyways.
It's a huge thing in academic and medical spaces where mental health staff want to reduce the stigma associated with being a map (which affects roughly 3% or more of the population) because it leads to shorter life expectancy.
I'm peculian, basically a paraphile and a queer person, and I wish people understood the intersection that being a paraphile actually has on people's lives. People lose housing, jobs, families and friends just for having an attraction that is usually managed with fiction. People get forced into conversion therapy over being a paraphile, people often endure torture trying to turn a paraphile into a normophile which never works. I think it would be nice if the paraphile community was supported by the members of the lgbt community (although I'm not saying they should be one community).
There are maps who are trans and lesbian and live normal lives free from abusing others but stigma holds everyone back.
MAP Resources compiles expert-backed support resources for minor-attracted people. Know a resource we should add? Suggest it!
MAP resources is great, they provide resources for those questioning what minor attracted people are. They provide support for disordered paraphiles and non-disordered paraphiles.
Another similar group backed by experts is called B4U-ACT
Some people want to undermine the survival of MAPs solely on the basis of identity, but do nothing to address the lack of early comprehensive sex education or preventative care or youth liberation needed to give children the tools they need to speak up for themselves when they are being abused. We really need to dismantle manufactured consent structures and provide a world where children are given the chance to assent to their own future. Pro contact arguments are built on manufactured consent so I dismiss them entirely.
I think we should live in a world where being a map isn't considered punishable solely on the basis of identity because we deserve the right to exist and be fully fledged people. We should stop conflating minor attraction with csa and recognize that everyone is capable of great harm and great good. Maybe paraphile acceptance will make being trans a lot nicer too.
