i started reading a book yesterday and so many of the things about lgbt/"progressive" fiction that irk me are exemplified in it. i will probably finish it so i can confidently and knowledgably critique it but it is so annoyinggg

something that kind of sums up what makes me want to bang my head against a wall about these kinds of things is the female main character in a setting like this one is always like "yeah im not straight. i had sex with a woman once. and then immediately began to dislike her. anyway i will only mention men for the rest of the story" and this ISNT about bisexual women ceasing to be bisexual when they get with a man, this is about an AUTHOR wanting to avoid criticism on her het main pairing and putting in a single line she can forget about until someone calls it a boring straight romance so she can go "no she's BISEXUAL. she had SEX WITH A WOMAN. disregard that this has no bearing on the character, her identity, or her thoughts."

we've been in a dire situation for months, ever since my wife lost her job this past autumn.

we've finally been served a notice to vacate.

$3,138 due by JUNE 14 2026 or else it's the streets for us.

with no income or proof of employment, we have nowhere else to go. i'm unable to work because of worsening ME/CFS and other debilitating health issues that i can't afford treatment for. jobs are refusing to hire my trans wife. if we lose our housing, it will kill us, as even this city is becoming more and more openly hostile to immigrants and trans women.

it's aapi heritage month and me/cfs awareness month, and we're going to get evicted in pride month.

i don't know what else to say. we've been begging for months.

I don't knowwww. it shouldn't be a huge deal but at the same time, the image an overwhelming amount of people have of aotearoa comes from those movies. our struggling ecosystems get overshadowed by fields and grassy hills and other non-native biomes that were explicitly chosen to depict the england-inspired fantasy land of middle earth. these same biomes only exist here because english settlers historically slashed and burned massive swaths of forest to create them, and now they're framed as famous and beautiful. mass deforestation of precious native forests. I don't know man. it annoys me juuuuust a little when every other post I make about this place gets a lotr joke plastered on it.
