There's a Standard Trans Debate Argument that goes something like
"It's concerning that there's a skew in the gender ratio of youth transitioners, it means that more young people falsely believe themselves to be trans men!"
"No it doesn't, the trans women catch up later in life so the ratio ends up at 50/50, this is a non-issue"
And while the moral panic around young trans men has always been nonsense I do wish there was more critical engagement with the mass suppression of young trans girls who don't feel safe enough to pursue transition until adulthood issue. Like you almost never hear anyone who's not a trans woman talk about that part of the equation.
A statistic that represents a massive discrepancy where so many trans girls are basically alone without any support has been made entirely about pretend-concern for the wellbeing of the guys who were actually getting help instead.
You see this when looking at sexuality too.
AFAB folks have different social consequences for experimenting with sexuality and gender. You often, especially in younger folks, see more folks raised as women who identify as bi/pan/non-binary, who experiment with expression and affection. The reaction for a teen "girl" getting a girlfriend, or presenting more masc, is much more likely to be dismissal or patronisation; vs a teen "boy" getting a boyfriend or presenting more femme who is much more likely to recieve active hostility.
Like it sucked being dismissed and talked over as a queer woman, it was maddening being told I was mistaken as an early transition trans masc, but it is scary the reactions I get being visibly queer as someone percieved male in public now.
