i literally love them so much
really not pleased about having to do this again and i'm sorry but:
6 months ago, i was banned from twitch, my only source of income, for, and i quote: "". They did not provide me a reason. The person who reported me has been going around telling trans women to kill themselves and bragging about reporting me. Now that it has been 6 months, however, I can at least request reinstatement- theoretically.
Unfortunately, I can't get into the appeals page or my twitch account at all; I can't even change the phone number used for 2fa because the 2fa service is that shit, and the phone number associated with the account belongs to a friend who is way behind on his bills after a divorce.
we've managed to get most of them paid, but he's still another $150 away from getting his phone reconnected, at which point i will be switching over to my current number so this never happens again. and then i can maybe actually get my twitch account back.
if anyone has anything they can spare to help, it would be immensely appreciated ;_;

One of them is a bit older so it looks different, but I like these!
theres two kinds of hating on elves, justified anti-white supremacy, and misogyny. and also those two can coexist in the same person.
just to elaborate
elves are frequently white-coded. they are often written as seeing other "races" as lesser, and use the language of real life racism- 'savage', 'children', etc. the narrative often justifies this by giving them a grand, ancient history, innate talents, art, culture, etc that other peoples are shown to lack or simply have less of or are "inferior". they are also usually visually coded with features common to peoples of northern europe; pale skin, long bony faces, downward pointing noses, blonde hair, tall, etc.
thus, some people you find hating on elves are expressing hatred towards white supremacy and a rejection of the idea that there is an Objectively Better race. i think those people are correct in their values and justified in expressing that in a jokey way that engages with the modern fantasy genre.
on the other hand, elves are almost always also coded as feminine. they are naturalists as opposed to industrialists, artisans and intellectuals as opposed to laborers. they are thin, with long head hair and no facial hair. they are emotional, capricious, and impractical. you will often, historically and in modern conservative spaces, straight up see transmisogynistic slurs like "sissy" levied at elves. this almost always goes hand in hand with contrast to dwarves, who are codified as hairy muscular industrialist practical laborers. you even see this in elven wine vs dwarven beer.
i deeply resent when elves are used this way and have a kneejerk reaction whenever i see someone larping as a dwarf who hates elves.
this also touches on the way in which misogyny is used as a shorthand for the bourgeoise! the rugged manly rural farmer in jeans vs the sissy foppish intellectual sex pervert!
so like. anyway yeah go out and larp as an elf hater as someone conscious of the imagery and language youre using and think VERY CAREFULLY about why you hate elitist intellectual tree hugging sissy faggot elves.
Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, men’s and women’s joggers (all sizes), children’s clothing (newborn to size 14), children’s shoes, summer clothing, men’s clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

The reason why so many of y'all's feminism sucks is because you still believe deep down in your hearts that there are only two kinds of people in the world: precious, ethereal, fragile dollthings called "women", and violent, lustful, rage-fueled apes called "men". Until you throw that idea away, 3rd-grade-tier "girls rule boys drool, girls are princesses and boys are stinky :(" is as feminist as we'll ever get-- and I hope it's obvious that that's lightyears away from the bare minimum of where we need to be.
I don't know how I'm supposed to explain to ostensibly trans-friendly feminists that "women are beautiful soft things made of glass, men are obsessed with violence and sex" is exactly what the patriarchy wants you to believe. Patriarchy wants you to believe that being a woman and/or having a vagina (patriarchy generally believes those two things are synonymous) makes one shatter on impact with reality. It makes you easier to control if you are scared shitless of the other half of the population, and it makes you more compliant with your lot in life if you believe it is in the nature of the other half of the population to rape and kill rather than realise those were choices those individual rapists and murderers made. There is no way to make gender essentialism progressive and feminist, because it is one of patriarchy's tools of subjugation. Stop trying to make it progressive.
And I can scream all of that from the rooftops over and over again, and what I hear in reply is "Trans men really are men because no woman would ever decide to become an inherently evil repugnant rapist ape", and "You're so right. Trans women are women because they too are pretty delicate little objects I can fuck", and "You're non-binary? So are you fucktoy non-binary or sexpest non-binary?", and my patience runs ever thinner.
I know litcrit isn't for everyone And That's Fine but god it makes me so frustrated when someone responds to a piece of analysis with "I don't like that and it makes me uncomfortable so therefore it's laughably wrong and you're crazyyyyy for saying it." the classic example of this is how straight people often respond to basic queer readings ("lmao they're literally just friends you're clearly a virgin loser who's never had normal friends before"), but I'm also thinking about how fan people on tumblr sometimes respond to analyses that imply unpleasant things about characters they like or vice versa ("that scene doesn't mean anything it was improv it was a mistake they kept it in by accident it's obviously irrelevant it's distasteful to acknowledge you're actually the weird one for bringing up something so fucked up"). in my ap lit class in high school we had a substitute come in on the day we were supposed to discuss seamus heaney's "blackberry-picking" and he got absolutely scandalized at a bunch of seventeen-year-olds telling him that this poem about picking blackberries had a lot of uneasy sexual subtext, he told us we had twisted dirty minds, then when our regular teacher came back the next day she said "yeah that's exactly what the poem's about."
i think americans should have to put a banner above their post that says U.S. CENTRIC ADVICE/INFORMATION. i think political posts should clarify that they are giving protest/societal/class information relevant only to the USA i think i would like to stop getting halfway through a post with really good information and then realising it is not widespread advice and is only applicable in the united states of america
for the love of GOD can we PLEASE stop treating us-centric advice as applicable to the whole entire world. Please. beyond anything else, i do not think you guys understand how difficult it makes it for young people to interact with and learn information relevant to them.
at a certain point, treating us-american advice as universally applicable borders on misinformation. i am not saying that it is done maliciously, but it is dangerous at worst. i do not want younger people going around assuming that certain laws do/do not apply to them and getting in trouble because of it. i worry about what 'fundamental/constitutional/labour rights' are only legally defensible in the USA. i worry about kids who do not know yet to wonder where the advice is for, and take it as fact because a post that reads "EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS" begins with "EVERYONE".
okay yes all the tags are very very good points but i would like to point out the main reason i made this post, which is that
if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.
i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about "boooo americans" i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations
(please do not chalk this up to 'if you don't do research then you are stupid'. i made this post with young people in mind. that being said i am willing to bet it also applies to others, ie those who are newer to non-local internet, older folks, or those escaping high-control environments.)
