Story Time!

My father, who is an identical twin, has two older sisters who were also identical twins. My grandfather’s favourite way to tell the story was that in 1956 when he was awaiting the arrival of 🤷‍♀️ Child™️, the doctor (who, in the small town where we’re from, had delivered my aunts a few years earlier) came to the lounge, lit a cigarette and took a seat next to him.

“Clifford… how are ya?” the doctor greeted.

“I’m alright… yourself?”

“Good, good…good, so how many ya want this time?”

My grandfather, even in the retelling of the story heaved the most world weary sigh and said, “…how many ya got?”

I've heard a lot of debate over whether or not Masterballs are ethical*, but I feel like people overlook that Pokemon have canonically been shown to be able to come and leave from their Pokeballs whenever they want after being captured. It's only during capture that the Pokeball seems to lock up, hence the balls snapping into two after a failed catch; the Pokemon has to break out of them by force.

So with the Masterball, it's able to guarantee a catch because the Pokemon can't break out of it while it's locked during capture. However, the Masterball is unlocked afterwards and the Pokemon can come and go as it wants, just like any other Pokeball (and can also be broken if the Pokemon is powerful enough and doesn't want to stay; see Kieran's Terapagos).

*(Also, keep in mind that Pokeballs can be illegally hacked into a permanent locked state, as shown in SV and PLZA. This is probably why villain teams favor Masterballs—if you hack one, you have a ball that can trap a powerful legendary by force.)

These Pokemon have a cowardly nature and are wary of noises and sudden movements. If they feel threatened, they spit out a poisonous liquid, which signals to other Wimpod that danger is near. As Wimpod age, their sturdy exoskeleton becomes as hard as diamond, and two of their stubby arms develop powerful claws. As they grow larger and more intimidating, they’re able to live a more peaceful life in underwater caves, unburdened by predators.

Named: Wimpod - Dashopod - Golisopod

(Dashopod [da·show·pahd] is derrived from “dash” (running away), “daisho” (the pair of swords a samurai would wear), and maintains the “-pod” suffix (from isopod).”
