The irony of this new breed of self-righteous AI hunters on AO3 is that they're all just copy and pasting peoples fics into AI detectors, which are all operated by AI and therefore THEY are feeding people's work into the algorithm without their consent and in some cases no doubt circumventing the locks people put on to avoid getting scraped...
Don't copy and paste anyone's AO3 work into third party websites, you're not the good guys in this situation?

the draw of arranged marriage AUs to me is really the way the dubcon of it all binds them together. neither of them have a choice in being here, something else is foisting this upon them whether that’s their parents or the political situation around them or expectation or something else, but the point is that they don’t get that one choice. so they have to make a choice somewhere else, that now that they’re here, they’re going to make it work. they’re each other’s only allies, in this cage built around them. they may have been coerced into swearing to stand by each other through anything, but they did swear.
it’s not love at first, or second, or third sight. it’s not love in the wedding bed the first time, whether they grit their teeth through it or decide together to forgo that binding step and try to get around it as long as they can. it’s about sharing a bed with a stranger while you learn their nightmares and how they hog the covers. it’s about sharing a name before you even know each other’s hobbies. the appearances you have to keep up, and the connection you find in both being exhausted by them, laughing together because isn’t it ridiculous how you not only have to be married but you have to act like it’s perfect and lovely for everyone else watching. it’s love that creeps up quiet and slow, between shared secrets that make your wedding bands mean something for the first time, and trying to protect each other from the trap you’re both in. and it’s about having the mortifying thought of “oh my god, i have a crush on my wife.”

Drinking soda is better than drinking nothing all day. Eating ice cream for dinner is better than eating nothing for dinner. Eating salsa is better than having no produce in your diet at all.
Water is way more hydrating than soda, but soda is more hydrating than nothing. A balanced meal is way more nutritious than ice cream, but ice cream is more nutritious than nothing.
Something is better than nothing. Some hydration is better than no hydration. Some nutrients are better than no nutrients. Some produce is better than no produce.
Don't let societally imposed food guilt trick you into believing that nothing is a better choice. Nourishing your body, however you can, is always the better choice. Fed is best. Always.
food has no moral value. being fed does.

I have a new story idea (shocker) that my brain is fiddling with the world-building on. Fantasy-esque world where magic is slowly dying out. As such, magical creatures are becoming rare and coveted, turned into pets under the guise of protecting them from extinctions. (And conveniently ignoring signs of personhood in said creatures.) None are more prized than angels.
Angels are considered demi-humans, which is a term to classify creatures that have human like features but aren't actually 'people.' "Wild" angels live in flocks that are extremely close-knit and highly wary of humans. It didn't used to be that way, but then the whole trapping angels to be kept as pets thing started up, which can range from simply being treated as status symbols and entertainment like an exotic animal to full on sex-slave. Most angels are naturally highly sociable and flocks are very physically demonstrative with their friendships and other relationships, so it made it easy to 'train' them to turn to their owners for physical affection.
All of these things have led to angels being rare and highly prized pets, so any flocks found in the wild are hunted to be trapped. The few that remain are generally capable of escaping because they have an extremely rare kind of angel in their group. Guardians. Humans have found they can train fledgling angels to be guardians, but it can be hit or miss and often times results in a volatile temperament. Wild angels that naturally display combative abilities and still maintain a graceful and calm personality are practically a myth, but that is because the few that exist keep their flocks from being found by any means necessary.
What almost no one remembers is that angels were servants to the divine tasked with helping to maintain the health of the world and its magic. Their immortality has been stolen from them as well as any knowledge of their origins and connection to the original deity of this world, who had to rest after spending so much of their energy to create the world and everything on it. The angels were meant to reawaken them if there was an emergency before they were done sleeping. The one that stole their ability to call to the god is now doing all she can to gain enough power to destroy that god before they reawaken on their own at full strength.
Villain: Roo - I still have a lot of things to figure out with her backstory and motivations in this one, but the basic idea is that she took advantage of the original Creator going to sleep and trapped him there while stealing a bit of power from him. She made sure the keys to waking him, the angels, were no longer capable of it and has been slowly destroying their society to the point that there is no history of how they were once direct servants to the divine aside from a few oral traditions in smaller cultures
Current options being considered for Roo:
- originally an angel who resented being tasked with helping to maintain the world when she saw humans as being left free to be lazy and selfish.
- originally a human who was jealous of all the beauty and power given to angels and distrustful of the fact that they were so happy to selflessly serve. She felt humanity was being left weaker and subservient and wanted to destroy that supposed imbalance without realizing that wasn't the reality.
- originally a fellow deity among several, each tasked with caring for their own living worlds. She brought hers to ruin via her games and was weakened for it, but rather than learning a lesson about responsibility, she instead decided she would just take over her siblings' worlds one by one and steal their power for herself

Working on Child of Death Alastor. Still have a ways to go to make the hair more easily seen and do more shadows and highlights overall, but I felt there was enough progress to share.

I refuse to lock myself into a single interpretation of a fictional relationship when there's multiple interesting ways to view it. I can do both
Had someone ask me to list all the fave foods of my OCs. This was interesting to do, so I thought I would share
Azrael - (in stories where he eats) Pastries. Baklava is especially loved.
Raphael - Cheesy breads. If pressed, will pick Khachapuri as the top fave.
Armina - Crawfish Etouffée
Armand - (child) beignets, (adult) (public) truffle polenta (truth) raw angel. The higher the rank the better
Jehoel - Curry (spicy as possible)
Michael - (standard) usually doesnt eat. (cannibalistic) Infestor demon sashimi style, (human) poached pears
Barachiel - Kimchi
Gabriel - (standard) will eat if someone offers to share but generally doesn't care about food. If in the middle of a hyperfixation, his friends have made a game out of seeing if he'll eat random things they set out. These can be anything from weird flavored chips to inedible items. (human) energy drinks and candies
Uriel - mochi and taiyaki
Arariel - like Michael, she doesn't really eat. However, if spending time with Jehoel and he's got food, she can sometimes be seen eating honey roasted almonds or cashews.
Ariel - (sober or mostly sober) grilled pineapple, (stoned) thinks humans were geniuses when it came to pop-tarts and toaster strudels (has been known to zone out watching the toaster and then startle when it pops. Always laughs at herself after)
Nadine - spicy boiled peanuts
Shade - anything involving meat on a skewer. Easy to eat while waiting around

Actually made some progress on this one. It's kinda funny writing pre-cannibal Alastor
man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great
