The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.
honestly one of my favorite things about fanfic is when you can see the canon influences come out in really subtle ways. like a canon line thats mentioned once as a throwaway is suddenly the entire premise for a fic or it influences the characterization or something. its just so cool to see how people weave their ideas around a source material, especially if its not a detail i'd thought about before

Crazy that it's only a week away. Things I want to see:
Some flashbacks so we can see the moment Logan reveals he has bone claws for the first time.
Logan and Morph talking about THAT moment. We all know the one.
Sabretooth gets to do fun things (and his voice actor pays good respect and homage to Don Francks)
Sabretooth and Logan grumbling about their team-up while Morph is sandwiched between them.
Lady Deathstrike gets to do some fun things and have at least one spotlight moment.
Maverick keeps his German accent like he had in the original show.
Would also love for Omega Red to appear, but I don't know how much I can get my hopes up. There's a lot already I want to see that has to get crammed into 30 minutes.

Some people really do not understand the purpose of fanfiction. It's made by fans who love certain characters, ships and who want to explore these topics and characters in any way their hearts desire. Hate has no place in fandom space. Let people enjoy what they enjoy!

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
