A Very Long List of Discovery Prompts I Can Never Fill

So, I can’t creative write (it’s not my thing, my brain gets really mixed up with all the languages and the words don’t come out right; for this reason, I prefer to create visual art now), but I have a bunch of plot bunnies in my head about Star Trek Discovery that I know the  (truly, absolutely, unbelievably) amazing writers of this fandom could do justice. So I am going to post a list of prompts and plot bunnies that I have sort of floating around in my head, and invite you guys to do your own take on them.

So. Here are some one-liners, scenes, lyrics, poems, or whatever else has transported me into that shippery headspace lately that I think could maybe do the same for you, too.

P.s. I really, really bloody appreciate that all of you amazing fanfic writers keep sharing your art with this community and making us feel the feels. Thank you.

Mirror Philippa Georgiou/Prime Katrina Cornwell: Could it be that I’m the same / Could it be I’m your mirror showing you all those things that you never wanted to face //

Mirror Georgiou/Prime Cornwell: I Think I’ll Dismember The World And Then I’ll Dance In The Wreckage (Neil Gaiman). Katrina is self-destructive due to all the trauma and loss she went through. The Emperor is a perfect enabler for such behaviour.

Michael Burnham/Katrina Cornwell: I know you’ve been going through some things you can’t explain / Baby let me be your vacation //

Admiral Katrina Cornwell went from being a prisoner, to super quick rehab for a spine injury, to leading the war effort and then nearly agreed with Emperor Philippa that genocide was a good idea.

(she’s a total badass but wow has she been through a lot).

Kat and Michael have a great chemistry in their scenes, however brief. There’s much mutual respect there.

Kat also gets huge points for trying to treat Tyler while she herself is in such bad shape. (Heroic doctors are a thing that I love).

Admiral Katrina Cornwell Star Trek Discovery Custom Funko

For the Admiral Kat legion out there, away mission Admiral Cornwell.  I used slightly more subdued gold on here relative to the Captain Georgiou funko I made the other day.  Her body comes from the newly released Black Widow from Avengers Infinity Wars, I actually used a couple different blacks to get different gloss looks between her belt and vest here.  Her head comes from Kate Austin from Lost with her sun spots removed.

Jayne Brook on Cornwell and Lorca, After Trek

Started this during my trip to London. Listened to Anthony Rapp’s wonderful voice while doing so and finished it now that I‘m back home. I don‘t have much to give, but I can give love and gratitude to people who inspire me. Jason Isaacs and Jayne Brook definitely do.

I need to know more about how Lorca and Cornwell met and what they‘ve been through together. Please give us Prime Lorca. I loved him in the book. I want to see Katrina‘s expression when she finds out that „her Gabriel“ is still alive.

Jayne Brook fan book project!

Hi everyone, I have no idea how to use tumblr but I want to get this idea out there to as many people as possible. With the announcement of Jayne Brook coming to Destination Star Trek in October, I decided that I wanted to make a fan book for her so she knows how loved and welcomed she is into the Star Trek community. She’s played Admiral Cornwell so beautifully and she has such a fan following already so I just wanted to give something back to this treasure of a human being. If you’re interested in contributing then just drop me a message as soon as possible. The convention is in 8 months but I want to start collecting messages nice and early. I won’t be putting fan art into the book (at present) as I don’t currently have a working printer but I may accept some fan art a little later down the line.

He whisper quietly into her hair… to the darkness that blissfully surrounds them… just like her, who is blissfully unaware of his confessions, so far away in Land of dreams. Each word feels like getting a burden off his shoulders, but weight in his heart is still there, knowing he cannot tell this to her face, not when she is awake, alert and aware.

she nuzzles him in her sleep, scoots closer to him and he wraps his arms around her, cluching her tighter , if possible, as if she is his lifeline… pressing a kiss to her hair and another ‘i love you’ to her ear.

Cornwell/Prime Lorca headcanon

Perhaps I’ll write this fic, but writing isn’t my thing these days. But if I did, here’s how it would go.

They met and fell in love at the academy, (though neither of them ever used the word). Yeah, they tried to date but they were young and too focused on their careers to form anything lasting. 

For 30+ years, they got together, broke up, and made up over and over again. Eventually, they decided to be, “just friends,” but it was obvious to everyone who came within ten feet of them that they were much, much more. They fell for other people, (Kat even married someone else), but always ended up back with each other.

All that time and they never admitted how much they loved each other.

Then Gabriel gets lost in the Mirror Universe and somehow he survives. At first he’s captured, but is rescued by Mirror Saru, who escaped from slavery and joined the rebels. So Lorca, after being vetted by Prophet Sarek, joins the resistance. 

In the meantime, a transporter accident lands a small group of Discovery officers in the mirror universe. They’re mostly redshirts and Tilly is the only survivor. She’s captured by the rebels.

Normally, Lorca wouldn’t give someone like Tilly a lot of attention. (The only real difference between the two Lorcas is that Prime has morals and actually gives a damn.) Now he’s been in the mirror universe for nearly two years and he’s thrilled to meet someone from home. They bond and form a sort of mentor/protege relationship. Gabriel is devastated to hear about the fate of the Buran and so many other Starfleet officers he served with, but he’s relieved that Kat’s still alive. His biggest regret is that he never told Kat how much he loved her.

Tilly “sciences” them back to their universe. Lorca is sent back to Earth and is reunited with Kat.

He tells her he loves her right off the bat, because he’s not going to make that mistake a second time. At first Kat dismisses it. Gabriel’s just been through a traumatic experience. Gabriel persists and a few days later she admits that she loves him too.

So, for the first time in their 30+year history, they actually try to make things work. Gabriel moves in with Kat. (Since he’s on indefinite leave, there are no real worries about fraternization.) 

Of course, it’s messy. Both of them are suffering from PTSD and survivor’s guilt. They both wake up with nightmares. Kat almost destroyed Qo’nos and is consumed with guilt. Both of them attend therapy. Gabriel, whose whole life has been Starfleet up to that point, is without a ship and a real future. (Not that he wants to go back to space, anyway.) His only real friends are Tilly and a couple of his old buddies from the Academy who are willing to look past the Buran and all the other stuff MirrorGabriel did. (Gabriel still has to take the fall for the actions of his counterpart, to keep the mirror universe classified.)

Somehow, Gabriel and Kat make it. He lands a teaching post at the Academy so he can stay on Earth with her, though there’s a chance he might command a starship again someday. They buy a house together and get a couple of cats, which are totally Gabriel’s responsibility. Maybe Kat and Gabriel get married, maybe they don’t. The important thing is that they stay together, for better or worse.

I wrote most of this in my head while walking to the grocery store.

Excuse me while I cry about how beautiful this is. Just the thought of the two of them helping each other deal with trauma and growing closer because of it…

Anyway, headcanon accepted, because I really need them to have a happy end after all the show has put them through so far.
