no but im thinking about the videos diaries now bcos for like 20 years Grace and the other astronauts were all remembered as the heroes who went on a suicide mission to save the sun? which is impressive on its own but once the beetles come back and some of the videos get released everyone is like :O :O :O bcos not ONLY did Ryland Grace nobly volunteer to go on a suicide mission to save the sun, he did the whole mission by himself after the other astronauts died and made first contact with an alien species while he was at it?? he's basically the best guy in history??

but then someone leaks the Full Unadultered Ryland Grace diaries and there's gonna be various Realisations along the lines of

oh my god he didn't volunteer. oh god he was so angry & miserable and lonely up there. they just sent this sweet man to die in space against his will. oh we're all alive because they killed this poor man. okay.

eva stratt makes me so fucking unwell because. imagine months of making hard call after hard call because you gotta, because someone's gotta, and this time it has to be you. and she keeps strong despite it, she keeps going. then the fucking pit in her stomach she must have felt, when she realized that Grace was her only option left. the horror of that realization. having to steel herself for the task. only to have him beg and plead and cry. her friend. how did she not throw up. how did she manage it. eva stratt the woman ever, how many people out there would have the sheer force of will, to be able to pull the trigger on their friend to save all humanity. and she didn't even know if it would work. she didn't know. for years. she didn't know if murdering her friend was worth the gamble. she just had to believe in him. fucking hell.

What if they’re not on speaking terms with eachother? they’re both tense with the whole “the sun is dying” situation. maybe Colt is doing stunts that Grace thinks are way too dangerous. maybe Colt is mad at him for abandoning his whole life to go live on a boat. so maybe they get into an argument over the phone which ends with a “Fine!” “Fine!!” and they don’t speak. maybe when Eva asks if he has any family Grace spits out that he has a brother. maybe by his tone she thinks that he doesn’t care about him. maybe in that moment, he doesn’t. maybe when he’s being chased, being pinned to the ground, his last thought is “I want to see Colt. i want to say sorry.” maybe Colt turns on the TV and sees his brothers name. the brother he hasn’t been on speaking terms with for the last month is being shot into space. his brother, who’s afraid of elevators and roller coasters. his brother who he didn’t get to say goodbye too because of a stupid fight.
