Well straight off the back of #worldmentalhealthday comes #nationalcomingoutday and I am fucked if I'm staying in ANY closets any more (even if it means continually emerging from them). Yesterday was a start...now I'll continue... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 🏳️‍🌈 I identify as bi/pan (depending on context/ with whom I'm talking). It's been fucking hard getting my head around this but other people's transparency, particularly certain lovely humans close to me, have made this possible. . 🚻 When asked by a lovely new, completely non judgemental friend, recently if I identify as cis female I was finally able to consolidate what I've felt all my life and answer "no" 🙂 gender fluid sums it up fairly well, although it's complicated and trying to talk about it makes me feel really anxious, and my head hurt a lot 🙈 But i get that society is the issue, not me, so I'm fine with this. . 🍃 I AM SPIRITUAL! This has been the worst one for me... I've felt incapable of owning this as part of my identity for, like, ever. My beliefs are complex and don't fit neatly into one category. I'm interested in multiple religions and spiritual disciplines...I'm currently in the midst of trying to reconcile some kind of relationship with Christianity (possibly the least cool religion), after having felt completely wounded and betrayed by Catholicism, the religion I was raised in. Maybe I'll do that then move on...or maybe it'll stick. Who knows. But it's not right to feel fear for expressing who you are.. So I'll continue to be brave. So yesterday I stumbled upon my perfect sink 💖 Look at that artwork!! 😍👌🏼 Why are more bathrooms not like this? It's as if we'd rather pretend they didn't exist rather than give them the love we honour the rest of the building with. Well not @thebristoliancafe 😊 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I have this ongoing thing with sinks in public bathrooms... More often than not the taps don't extend far enough over the basic to even get my hands under (and I have pretty regular sized hands). I have to press them right up against the back of the basin to get *any* water over them, and that way I can't really move them to rinse properly. This happens a lot. Like, who is actually designing these sinks?! What are they thinking?! Usability is a pretty basic, fundamental aspect of design, right?
