Hey guys.

So as most of you may or may not have noticed, there hasn't been much activity on this page.  Kelly is off at college, and I'm busy with senior year!  

I can't say we'll never be on again, and I can't say we don't want to be on, but this page will not be having much activity in the coming months.  Kelly and I both wish we could be on here all the time, but we're just too busy!  We'll try to pop on and do what we can. 

So thank you for swimming with us, sharks.  Through the hard sets and the stressful meets... Through the best times and the bitter adds... Through the showerless days and the hairy legs...  Through the uncoordinated drylands and peeing in the pool, we thank you.  

Just keep swimming.

soo uhh..... hey Sharks...... long time no see. 

Kelly and I have been beyond busy.  Kelly is going to college next year, she's decided where she's going, and I'll be sure to visit her lots next year! 

I went to NCSAs back in March, and had a lot of fun!  I've been touring colleges and with everything going on with school, practice, work, and SAT stuff, Kelly and I never get the chance to be on here anymore! I'll put my best effort forward though!

For those of you who have stayed with us through this, and anyone who is reading this, thank you!  I'll try to keep some memes coming!

Thanksgiving Sharks!

Happy thanksgiving. I hope everyone eats more than they even usually do as a swimmer because I'm bouts to put down a whole turkey later. I just want to go and say how thankful I am to have Virginia as my best friend (I call her my biff) because she always knows what to do. She always knows when something is wrong and she always knows how to make me feel better. I sprained my ankle the day of my last 500 free ever, and I was about to breakdown crying in class and she was like "BE THE FUCKING AVATAR" Now that is some real advice. Thanks for always being there and being the funny and awesome person you are Virginia! I don't know what I would do without ya. Stay awesome, sharks. - Kelly

hi I'm 13 and I want to start swimming competitively but i don't know the strokes but I might take a class to learn them. Any ideas? :)

States was this morning! 

I had a really good 100 free, with a personal best since last weekend, and 1st place, and then I wasn't too happy with the way I raced my 50, but no big deal! Our team's relays placed 10th and 12th! By far personal bests for the school! 

It was a pleasure to meet our new friend, Kelly (http://keeepingupwithkelly.tumblr.com/)! She's soooo nice, and super pretty so everyone should go follow her! She killed it today!!  

This guy tried to interview me as we were walking out because I broke the State meet record, and it did not go too well. Believe me when I say this, I'm AWKWARD. And he asked me how I felt and I was like "uhhh I felt really happy...." and when he asked me to expand on it I was kinda just like "I mean I smiled and I waved, and I don't know....". LIKE I SWAM THE RACE, HOW ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO EXPAND ON IT?! LIKE I JUST DID IT, I DON'T KNOW. Needless to say, it was incredibly awkward and Kelly^^ got to witness it, as well as my entire team who made fun of me the whole way home. My life. 

On the way out Kelly (not new Kelly lol, usual Kelly) looked at me and was like "That was my last race ever." And I was just like "NO STOOOP" and I don't want to think about the fact that Kelly is done with her swimming career.  Kelly has been there for me since freshman year, always helping me look forward to the good practices, and get through the bad.  When I don't have a good race, she always knows exactly what to say.  She has come to my club meets and screamed at the top of her lungs while the entire deck is silent [true story]. I know that I'll still spend time with Kelly whenever I can, and I'll be visiting her at college next year, so it's not like we won't be together, but I won't have another season to spend with her to look forward to. So as Kelly's swimming winds down, I just want to appreciate the fact that I couldn't have asked for a better Captain, or a better friend.

To the breasstroker anon with the hurting hips: im a breasstroker too and ive had the same problem. sore hips when swimming could mean that you've overworked your hip-flexers. It's the muscle that runs down ge side of your hip and thigh. It is really important in breaststroke and seriously injuring it could set you back a lot in your stroke. Just take it easy and do smaller kicks until it stops hurting.

So I'm a breaststroker and my hips have been hurting me a lot recently, do you think I'm doing something wrong or does this just come along with being a breaststroker? :(

I would talk to your coach. I am literally the FURTHEST thing from a breaststroker.  I know you need strong hips, but I don't think they should be hurting, so you might need to readjust your stroke.

It's hard to believe

that I only have one more swim meet left, and that it is the Massachusetts State Championships in less than a week. Sorry for getting all sentimental, but it was bound to happen at some point.

When I first started swimming I was 10 years old and I never thought I would be where I am today. I'm not the best but I've improved so much, and swimming has taught me more about myself than anything else ever has. Swimming has quite literally saved my life, in ways no one could ever understand. Swimming has brought me some of my closest friends, including Virginia. Swimming has taught me that I can do anything if I put in my best effort and start things off with a positive attitude. Swimming will always be a part of my life, and I will always be involved with it in some way or form - I'm sure of it. So this one goes out to all of the high school sharks who are graduating with the Class of 2013 and are reaching the end of their season -

It's been a good run, and don't forget to just keep swimming.

Hey Sharks!!!

Kelly and I had our high school Sectionals last night! It was an INCREDIBLE night.  I swam the 50 free and the 100 fly, and I lead off the 200 free and 400 free relays.  Both individuals and my 400 free split were all best times, and meet records.  The 50 and the 100 fly are both All-American Considerations as well! 

Kelly had the next fastest relay splits, both best times! Our relays finished 10th and 13th overall, personal best times and places for our team! 

Shout out to Emily (http://carryonwaywardloki.tumblr.com/) and Julia (http://vaguely-pedophilic-swing-set.tumblr.com/), who I know were both swimming Rebels last night!! ;) 

I hope everyone else has been having good seasons as well! I know as our high school season is drawing to a close, the winter season will be beginning, so I wish those of you who are about to start, good luck! And anyone headed into the last week of their season, good luck to you too!
