Oh god, I think it's time I changed my feed. I've seen way too many folks on here take this Hotd thing a bit too seriously, it's getting tiring honestly.

Before I do this whole erasure thing, I'll just listen a few reasons for it. The extreme disrespect and nastiness from so many fans who claim they're more intellectually inclined to some of us simply because they adore certain characters. And yes, today I will be using a personal experience of mine, having my inbox recently flooded with anonymous takes and asks which I have not and will not answer, calling me a racist because I don't favour or like Criston Cole, a misogynist because I don't like Ormund and somehow that relates to me being misogynist.

I've been called a while bunch of slurs, including a "pickled white supremacist retarded bitch". And yes, those were the exact words. I'm not white🙂.

I've been accused of "favouring Rhaenyra's white boys over the righteous black men who fought in her name". I've been accused of being insensitive to victims of genocide and causing harm to women and children who suffer in genocide sand war striken areas after questioning the reactions some people have towards Targaryens.

I've had my inbox flooded with anonymous takes like these ever since I began sharing my thoughts in the new season and it's actually gross. Like it adds nothing to the discussion and it's tacky. So im really hoping to be able to kinda dilute my feed so I'd have less of it. But honestly, you gotta ask. Why do some of you even do this??

I've explicitly stated I'm neither team black or team green. I might be team black leaning, but I still don't move like that. What could possibly warrant reactions like these? Of course, I'll keep talking about the show, but now I'm gonna have to talk more and even more about other things, just so I can fetch out a great majority of the fandom from my feed.

So apparently some people think Rhaenyra r*ped Ser Criston 😬🤨😐

I swear it seems like every day I come across someone who lacks the ability to apply nuance to a situation, causing them to have some egregious takes.

I would like to just preface that I am in no way trying to say that men can't be victims of r*pe at the hands of women, and I am not trying to dismiss victims who were taken advantage of while under the influence. Please do not get into my comment and say anything crazy (you will be blocked). I'm just trying to outline the nuances of this situation for people who are having a hard time seeing them.

In S1 Ep4, what happens between Nyra and Criston is not a clear-cut situation. There are 2 power dynamics at play.

Criston is a man. He's older by a few years (according to Google, at this point in time Rhaenyra is 19 and Criston is in his early 20s, about 22-23). He is sober during this moment while Rhaenyra is intoxicated. Now she wasn't sloppy drunk or liable to black out; she was tipsy, but regardless, he is more aware of his senses than she is. He has a physical advantage due to their difference in size and biology; now, at this point in time, would Criston have hurt Rhaenyra? Absolutely not. He cared about her, and also he would be killed if he did that. But regardless, he could overpower and hurt her if it came down to it, and that is enough.

Rhaenyra is a Princess of the ruling family of the Kingdom(sans Dorne). She is to be Queen in her own right one day, and her family possesses the ability to ride dragons, and she herself is a drongrider. She gave Criston his position in the Kingsguard, and he is her sworn protector. So she is very much this man's boss. And even though Criston did turn out to being ok and wanting to have sex with Rhaenyra, if he didn't, he was in a sticky situation. One, he could refuse and stay quiet (silently going crazy), hoping she doesn't either have him fired or, worse, paint him out to be the initiator of the situation to protect her reputation, thus sentencing him to, if not death, then some sort of maiming. Or two, he could go to the King and tell him what happened however, that could go wrong because she could turn the story back on him and since they're more than likely gonna believe the Crown Princess (especially because if word got out it would be better if she was seen as being pursued instead the persuer. Cause the second a woman expresses sexual desire she is a wh*re 🙄) this would once again be lead to him being maimed at best if not put to death outright. Now would Rhaenyra have thrown him under the wagon? I genuinely don't know. I think at any other point in time no, but at this point in time Otto had been whispering in Viserys' ear to disinherit her, with the Daemon thing also being out there; if this had made it back to her dad, she just might have gone into survival mode and thrown him to the dragons. Like, I genuinely don't know what she would've done if Criston were to have gone to the King; I would like to think she wouldn't jeopardize his life, but you never really know.

I don't think either of these people was r*ped. However, I do feel like they both took advantage of each other. But even then, it was not done maliciously; Rhaenyra was not trying to do him harm in any way, and neither was Criston trying to do her harm in any way ( if you guys remember, at this point in time he was very supportive and loyal to Rhaenyra and very grateful for her giving him a place in the Kingsguard).

As a reminder, I'm not trying to dissmiss anyones real life experience. I am simply going off what I observed of the situation. Please come correct in my comments or don't comment at all if you can't control yourself.

I'm confused about the Kingswood

So in S3 Ep3 of HOTD some smallfolk pleaded with Nyra about how the lack of sheep is affecting them, and as a solution, Nyra suggests they hunt in the Kingswood. Immediately, Corlys tells her that would be a bad idea, and I've even seen people ( both TB and TG ) posting about how that was a bad idea and what she was thinking. I'm curious as to why that was a bad idea. What's wrong with the smallfolk hunting in the Kingswood, especially since they have no other source of meat at the moment? And why did she have to make the concession that they couldn't hunt any deer or boar?

HOTD trash costume department

I love watching historical dramas, and one of the main reasons why is the fashion. My favorite has to be the Italian Renaissance era, and I'm also a big fan of the Tudor period style of dress. With that being said, I was very disappointed in what HOTD had to offer. I know it's a fantasy series and they are allowed to create their own style, but this is just sad.

Mysaria- I thought her dresses were really nice in the first season. But then we get to season 2, and at first they put her in this robe-type situation (that's the best way I can describe it), but then they put her in this ugly grey dress with red lining. It makes me sick every time I see it. In S3 Ep3, it seemed like they were finally gonna get her out of that dress, but then they put her right back in it in Ep4. The only difference is that they changed the color of the fabric. I was livid when I realised she was still in that same dress but in a different fabric 🙄.

2. Jenye Arryan- the first dress we see Lady Arryn in is not bad; I like it, and the next time we see her, she is in the same dress but with an ugly cape draped over it (Now I'm gonna be honest, I don't like capes, so I understand that my feelings on her stuff are biased). However, the next time we see her, in S3 Ep3, she's wearing this god-awful what I assume is a riding set. That outfit is so ugly, like I don't even know where to start. The cape is nasty (derogatory), the collar is atrocious, and the cut of the top is just ugly ( I know for a fact a lot of people are gonna disagree with me on this one because I have seen people praise this number. Saying things to the effect that she is dressing for herself and not the male gaze. And hey, I'm all for not dressing for the male gaze, but this look is ridiculous, in my humble opinion). Now I'll give them some grace because it's way better than what they had Lysa Arryan wearing, which was some heinous 💩.

3. Heleana- I really like the first dress we ever see Heleana in. I really wish we could have gotten to see more of it. The second dress (her green one at Leana's funeral), I don't really care for it; the style is weird. Now the first dress we see her in when she is an adult is a*ss; there's nothing really else to call it. Now her coronation dress isn't ugly, but I feel like it's too simple for the occasion; like, to me that's just something to wear on a random Tuesday when you don't really feel like getting all dolled up. Her season 2 dresses and onward all look the same to me 😐🤷‍♀️. And they aren't bad either, just really simple, which I feel like could make sense for Heleana.

4. Alicent- the first dress we see Alicent in was too simple for her character. She may be the daughter of a second son, but she still comes from a very powerful and rich house, and her father is the Hand of the King, so she should not dress that simply. The red and gold dress she wore when she confronted Rhaenyra was ugly ( I feel like I may also get pushback for this one because I've actually seen people praise the dress, but to me it's just odd and does not give Queen. If anything, it seems like something a court lady or Princess would wear). The black and red dress she wore when Daemon came back from the Stepstones, while not ugly, was awkward in cut and style of the dress, specifically around the hips. Now, adult Alicent was eating the first season. I liked all of her dresses, especially the one she wore in S1 Ep6 and the one she wore in S1 Ep7. From season 2 onward, her dresses progressively got simpler and simpler. I don't know if this is an intentional narrative choice or what, so I won't say too much on that.

5. Rhaenrya- I feel like I don't even have to say too much; I'm pretty sure most can agree that they've had her 🐂💩 since day one. I have only ever liked three of her dresses, and the first one is the one young Rhaenrya wore in the first episode to the Tourney, the second is the is that beautiful off-the-shoulder number she wore on her bethrothal tour, and the third one is the one she wore at the dinner with the dragonseed. Now I did like the one in the first episode when she was being named heir, but not by itself. That dress needs the cape and headdress (I know I said I don't like capes, but there are some situation wear a cape can work, and this is one of them). Also, someone once said that they are dressing her like later GOT seasons' Daenerys, and now I can't unsee it 🫠.

Criston Cole does not care about Rhaenyra

Disclaimer I'm neither Team Black or Team Green

I have seen multiple reviews of the past few episodes saying stuff like " Dang, this man is still upset about Rhaenyra rejecting his offer to this day " and " he's still trying to cause her problems". And I'm like, no, this man is way past the point of giving a damn about her, and I'd argue that he doesn't care about Alicent anymore either.

That man is suicidal. He wants to die. Back in season two, he witnessed a traumatizing event and then proceeded to go down a mental spiral that has led to him no longer wanting to live. A lot of people say they are tired of seeing him and his suicidal thoughts and that it's a waste of screen time when it isn't. He dies in a significant way, and they're setting up his death to be something caused not by being outmaneuvered but because he wants to die. Like, if we didn't have the scenes that depicted his descent into suicidal ideology (or any scenes that set up his death for that matter), then when he does die it would almost be as if it came out of nowhere.

Like, I get people don't like him, and their reasoning is valid, but to say all of his scenes are useless when they're not is annoying. Like, this one creator said, "Okay, we get it he's over it; can you show us something else?" and I'm wondering what else would a suicidal person be doing other than dissociating from the world around them and taking actions that will kill themselves.

When Criston said there was no home for him in Kingslanding as long as Rhaenyra was there, that was not him lamenting over some decades-old rejection. He was not lying; Rhaenyra would not let him back into the Redkeep and reassume his position on the Kingsguard. He is the Hand of the King; his stage name is literally the Kingmaker. He doesn't have a home in King's Landing with Rhaenyra there; he will be killed on site.

Like he literally said, when he dies, it will not be for the Greens or the Blacks but for himself in battle. Like, he's so done with this family, and all he wants to do is die. And I'm not really feeling this man of color's wants being only seen as what this means for the white super race. Like, this man is in a mental crisis, and the people are interpreting that as him still being stuck on this spoiled white girl.

Aegon and Aemond

Now I'm not a book purist by any means, and I can appreciate the changes the show has made for what they are. But I can't help but mourn the relationship between Aegon and Aemond (and Dearon).

In the books, Aegon and Aemond loved each other. Aemond was loyal to his brother to the end. When it came time for him to assume the title of Regent, he made a cheeky comment about the crown looking better on him, but at the end of the day, he never tried to take the title of King. When Aegon got back into power, he wanted a statue larger than the titan of Bravos (which is 400 ft), coated is gold, made of Aemond (and Dearon).

To see that brotherly relationship be twisted into what it is depicted on the show is sad in my opinion. As someone who has siblings that I love very much, despite getting deeply annoyed with them sometimes, seeing poor sibling relationships hurts my heart (especially between half-siblings; I have a half-sister who I love and have a great relationship with. And I would never even think to call her my half-sister in real life because, to me, adding that "half" diminishes the value of our relationship).

I do understand and appreciate show!Aegon and show!Aemonds relationship from a narritive stand point. And I think it's interesting how they have a different view of their lives growing up. But at the same time, I feel like this is just another way the writers are dogging on Team Green. By depicting Aegon and Aemond's dynamic as being worse than Daemon and Viserys', it comes across as another way to paint the Greens as inferior to the Blacks.

Alicent's (supposedly) redheaded child is not the same as Rhaenyra's brown-haired children.

I want to start off by saying a part of me still thinks Ormund may be dying Dearon's hair red. For 1, even if Rhaenrya's never seen her brother, she would have at least heard about him having red hair. And 2. seeing as they have depicted Ormund as hating the Targaryens to the point where he sees Dearon being tainted by having Valyrian blood, it's not far out of the realm of possibility that the man would not want Dearon to walk around with silver hair. However, if his hair actually is red, I'm not mad at it.

Now I've seen way too many people saying that Aliecent's reason for sending Dearon to Oldtown as a baby was not actually because she wanted one of her children to be raised in her image after already having 3 kids who were nothing like her. They think that the real reason Alicent sent him away is that if everyone else knew Dearon had red hair, then her argument against Rhaenyra's sons being bastards would fall through. And it's just like...that's not in any way true. (I've actually seen some people claim the Dearon is a bastard, but I'm gonna just dismiss these claims as being ragebait, because that literally makes no sense whatsoever). Alicent having a child that has her coloring and other features that match her is not the same as Rhaenyra having 3 kids that not only do not have her coloring but also do not have the same coloring as her husband (nor do they look like their grandmother, I know some people like to claim the Jace, Luke, and Joff's appearance can be explained away by Rhaenys having dark hair, but they're wrong. Rhaenys has black hair and purple eyes. Rhaenyra's sons have brown hair and brown eyes and other features that are not in line with the Valyrian look).

A mother having a son who looks like her is fine, but a mother having a child who does not look like her, her husband, or anyone in their family is questionable.

The Jane Grey of Westeros

Last night, every time Dearon was mentioned, I could only think of Jane Grey and how this ended terribly for her. For those of you unaware, Jane Grey was a cousin to Mary and Elizabeth (Henry 8th daughters). On his deathbed, their brother Edward tried to change the line of succession, but it never went through the proper channels, but that didn't stop the people (mainly men) in Jane's life from conspiring to make her Queen. Jane did not want to be Queen but was unfortunately coerced into going with the plot, and she was Queen for 9 days before Mary took back the throne and killed her. While it's not an exact copy of events, it's quite similar. And one could argue that Aegon is also like Jane Grey in that he was coerced into taking the throne; the main difference is that once he took it, he wanted it and fought for it.

Despite the short time we got with her, I love Aemma Arryn. I wish we had gotten more of her before her untimely demise; it would have given her death more meaning.

The HOTD fandom has lost their mind !

They have lost their mind.

I know some people would have you believe that it's just TG that's crazy or the reverse, and that it's TB who is crazy. But as someone who has interacted with both subgroups, I can confidently say it's everyone in the entire fandom as a whole. Both show watchers and book readers. Now obviously not every single person in the fandom is on bullsh*t, but enough of them are to the point where you're more likely to come across someone who is on bullsh*t than someone who isn't.

The moral policing in this fandom is ridiculous, and I can't stand it (can't stand moral policing in general, but this fandom takes it to a whole new level). I have seen people call those who support Aegon II rapist/ rapist supportors, and that's just crazy. To accuse someone of being a rapist/ someone who supports rape just because that like a fictional character in a fantasy world is egregiously disrespectful to not only that person but to actual victims of rape. A rapist is someone who inflicts actual harm and trauma on the world, and to just assign that label to people so cavalierly is disgusting, and this type of casual use of words is how important words lose their meaning. Like the things people have said about and accused Tom Glyn-Carrny of just because he's doing his JOB and doesn't outright hate the character that he plays is disgusting, and those people should feel ashamed of themselves.

The need these people have to be morally superior to others just because of the character they like is exhausting. Liking a villian/antagoist does not make someone a bad person in real life, the same way liking a hero/protagonist does not make someone a good person in real life. Like, if we want to go by this ridiculous logic, then everyone who supports both TB and TG is a bad person because both sides are part of the Ruling class that suppresses and oppresses a large part of the Westerosi population. Like, do you hear how crazy that sounds for me to accuse you of being a bad person because the FICTIONAL CHARACTER(s) that you like are oppressors 😐🤨.

This moral policing is why multiple fandoms are dying. Fanfic writers are disappearing and taking their works with them because people don't like certain characters and ships and therefore think they are morally superior to those who do like them. This needs to stop. If you don't like a story, character, ship, or anything else, DON'T INTERACT WITH IT. Interacting with fictional media is a choice that no one is forcing you to make. So if you see something you don't like, then KEEP SCROLLING.

My Family in Gaza: Stuck in a Vicious Cycle of Pain, Displacement and Death

I experienced the traumatic experience of displacement four times with my family in Gaza before I was evacuated alone to Ireland with the help of my Irish college.

No words can describe the fear that engulfs us when we see thousands of leaflets in our sky dropped from Israeli warplanes ordering us to leave for other places that are just as dangerous. It is a tedious and terrible process of packing everything we need, begging bus drivers over the phone (mostly with a feeble phone signal) to come and pick us up at any cost. Unfortunately, displacement and running from death became the daily routine of adults and children alike in Gaza.

When displaced, sniper bullets and indiscriminate heavy bombardment are not the only risks that face my family and other people. Another life-threatening problem facing people in Gaza is the sewage flooding the streets of Gaza after Israel deliberately destroyed most of the infrastructure. This led to the spread of fatal viruses and diseases like Poliomyelitis as announced by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

It pains my heart that my beloved city Gaza has turned into an apocalyptic ghost city where innocent people, children and adults, are indiscriminately killed daily. It is shocking to see this becoming normalized and the extent to which the world has become desensitized. What happened to humanity and human rights?! When will we see a ceasefire and be able to hug and reunite with our families?! When will we wake up from this never-ending nightmare?

The Lifeless corpses of innocent Palestinians decompose in the streets of Gaza and under the rubble. These bodies become food for stray dogs. I wonder what hopes and dreams the person had before he was killed. Did it hurt? Was he scared? Was it fast or painfully slow?! Does he/ she have children? Does his/her family know?! Was he/she unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?! Most importantly, how does one decide what is a wrong place and a wrong time to be when every place and every time in Gaza is wrong?! Survival is nothing but a matter of luck in Gaza.

Imagining that this could be the fate of my family makes me go insane with heart-stopping fear!

With the increasing escalation in the region, hope for a ceasefire in Gaza fades away and I have to live every second of every day with the haunting thoughts that my family could be the next to leave this cruel world brutally. Therefore, I am exerting all efforts to get them out of Gaza and hopefully reunite with them in Ireland where I am continuing my studies.

I cannot do that without your help. Decide today to play a significant role in saving my family in Gaza including many children with a prosperous future ahead of them.

I am Ahmed Halas from the besieged North Gaza, I have created my campaign to help my family and save them from the suffering they are living. Our lives, hopes and ambitions have been destroyed, our livelihood has been destroyed, we have lost dear friends and many relatives, our house has been completely destroyed, we live in a plastic tent in the middle of an UNRWA school and we suffer from the heat of the sun which causes headaches, migraines, body allergies and many diseases. There is no food, water, medicine or basic life requirements and the prices are terribly high, we cannot afford to buy anything.

Hello, I am Ahmed from the Gaza Strip, I am still alive after ten months of war. This is my fifth war too. But this war is unlike any other. I am trying to raise money for me and my family, as we are determined to leave to safety while this disaster continues. We want to leave the Gaza Strip towards Egypt through the Rafah crossing and Hala Company.

This was a very difficult decision for me, but this is my fate and the fate of my family. I feel ashamed to ask you to donate enough to save me and my family of 20, most of whom are young children, by raising enough money to reach safety.
