The Gadarene Assembly was formed to reconstitute and promote the values, beliefs, and practices of the earliest Christians, the majority of whom were devout Jews. To that end, our basic doctrines routinely rely on Jewish and Hellenistic concepts and traditions that diverge from modern Christian orthodoxy. In earlier times, we would certainly have been labeled apostates or heretics despite practicing a Christianity closer to the time of Jesus's death than any organized church today. We make no apologies, however, for wanting a Christianity that both rests on modern historiography, archeology, and textual studies and brings us as closely as possible to Jesus's first followers and their original Church. This website is our attempt to provide an introductory "catechism." We, of course, welcome questions and requests for clarification.
May God bless us and grant us eternal peace. In His Name we write. Amen.
