This is the official account of WGBS News, the primark news service of Galaxy Broadcasting Systems.
We are a television media subsidiary of the larger Galaxy Communications conglomerate, which stands as the leading major media empire which provides the citizens of Metropolis with information and entertainment!
The purpose of this account is dual: (I) being the reactive source of information all Metropolis citizens deserve! (II) coming directly to YOU and be in contact with YOU!
As you may know, Galaxy Communications has had some difficulties in the past due to The Daily Planet's Clark Kent revealing that the former leadership has been tied to Intergang. Rest assured, the past is past and we have learned from it! Today, Galaxy Communications is publically owned by a wide conglomerate of actors, including Bruce Wayne (6%)! We, however, have NO TIES to LexCorp and will remain the independent source of information you deserve!
Please feel free to reach out and ask whatever questions you might have!

Please, before reacting/responding, read the piece in full as there are several different 'rooms' up, such as: the cocktail hall (this post), the dining room (link), the terrace (link) and the silent auction (link).
PS: Canon characters, OCs and crossover characters may interact with the post. No response length is expected, even just side commentary is fine on this post (some may even just watch arrivals on their tv if they're not attending, for exemple). We won't police anyone's interactions, but maybe make sure you're welcome into a conversation if you hop on existing threads between people. Otherwise, feel free to hop from a location to another as you please, even hold several different conversations with the same character, it's all very free!
GBS News had spared no expense for the event. From the very entrance hall that had been decorated with a backdrop in their colours and with their logo where people were photographed or pulled aside for short interviews, to the burgundy carpet guiding guests straight to the cocktail hall.
The hall's decoration had been kept minimalist and functional, clearly a space made for professional needs first. But the whole thing still managed to look welcoming and tasteful, with a stage at the very rear and a bar with an art deco inspiration on the left, tended by several people of different genders but all wearing the exact same outfit. Black pants held by black suspenders, and a white button up with rolled up sleeves and a black tie. Meanwhile, other people dressed the exact same way except that their sleeves were rolled down and they were long black aprons were going around the room with trays to offer different amuse bouches, prepped to clarify on allergens and ingredients to accomodate dietary restrictions.
Eventually, as people started to fill the room, M. Matthew Matheson appeared on the large stage, beginning his very short address to the guests:
“Good evening everyone. As some of you might know, and others might not, my name is M. Matthew Matheson and I am a News Anchor on W-GBS News, as well as Managing Editor of News Nights. I, I have always taken great pride in the work we did, believing, no, knowing, it was important to inform people, to speak about what was important and to shed lights on issues that should not remain obfuscated. This is what journalism is about right? When I got into this position, I got in with the following mindset: People will want the news if you give it to them with integrity. Not everybody, not even a lot of people, maybe 5%. But a 5% that'll make a difference. Because I believed journalist needed to be reclaimed as an honorable profession. Especially on tv. So we worked, we worked on creating a nightly newscast that informs a debate worthy of a great nation. Civility, respect, and a return to what's important; the death of bitchiness; the death of gossip and voyeurism; the will to speak truth to stupid. No target audience, no demographic, just good work. When GBS News started to climb back on top, to re-establish ourselves and become a national powerhouse, I was terrified. We'd gone well beyond the 5%. But I remember a call with a colleague, an old man named Perry White, some of you might have heard of him, he told me I was idiot, and I said sure, but why? And he responded: where does it say that a good news show or good tv channel can't be popular? And I remember being at loss of words, which, you can ask anyone who knows me, doesn't happen often. Today, GBS News is taking another fresh start, and all I have to say is, let's keep being us, let's keep our honour, and our integrity and our will, and let's do good with the might we've acquired. Let's be great, let's be us. For the people who we've lost doing exactly that and for those who've grown to place their trust in us, to do exactly that. To W-GBS news! And to all the people working here, making it what it is! Now I think I've taken enough of your time, so please help yourself to the food, keep any smoking or God forbid vaping to our terrace, and don't forget to participate to the silent auction! All the funds will be donated Metropolis Brown Library! Thank you very much, this was M. Matthew Matheson who clearly can't wait to be back on tv!"
With those final words, the news anchor disappeared backstage and was soon replaced by a modern jazz quartet. Eventually though, Matheson reappeared amongst the crowd of the cocktail party, ready to make his round.

Open RP: Metropolis Office W-GBS News Reopening Party — Dining Room
The dining room was carefully decorated, the very color scheme reminescent on GBS, including the napkins in which were folded each guest's spotless silver cutelry. Three glasses sat in front of each seating: one for wine, one for champagne and one for water. The set kept otherwise small so as to avoid overcrowding the tables. No flower arrangement on them either, to facilitate conversation between guests. Names, were however written on small burgundy placards, clearly visibly on the white tablecloths, with each guest being naturally seated next to their plus one. Affiliations, however, had been mixed, people from different newspapers, and walks of life seating next to one another. Including M. Matthew Matheson, who was seated between one of the Metropolis citizens who'd won the raffle to attend the event for free and visit the new offices and newly appointed CEO of Kord Industries, Jenny Kord.
Waitstaff went around the room with great synchronicity to deliver dishes to each table at the same time, and refill glasses of water or other beverages, even recommending different wines according to the served dishes of the planned 4-course meal. They'd also been briefed on potential allergens and dietary restrictions, checking in with guests as they brought out certain specific plates with gluten-free or vegan options.

Open RP: Metropolis Office W-GBS News Reopening Party — The Silent Auction Room
silent auction : An auction held over a long period of time (here the 'evening' of the party) where people write public bids on a piece of paper, and whoever has the highest bid wins the item.
(bids will be closed on August 8th irl just so that the prizes can actually be given to winner, rping has no deadline, lol)
The silent auction room was actually a small meeting room with glass panels near the cocktail hall. It hadn't been overly decorated, except for floral arrangements in the colors of GBS on the main desk tables where the different different clipboards with a sheet of paper for bidding were. Pictures of the prizes were also shown alongside each bidding sheet.
The prizes were as follow:
The Official 2026 Fifa World Cup football jersey of the USA team signed by the whole football (soccer) team. | Bidding starting at 100$

Open RP: Metropolis Office W-GBS News Reopening Party — The Terrace
The terrace space was lit by overhead light garlands. Decoration was more functional than anything, testament to its primary use as part of an office. But the space was still well-curated, with some high plants bringing in some green and some chairs and tables with wooden ashtrays and discreet decorations in small flower arrangements reminding that this was a GBS Party. Luckily for everyone, this was in the summer so the evening breeze was quite pleasant when days could be so hot. And the view of the city skyline with a declining sun turning into a starry sky remained a gorgeous sight.

Hey, GBS News Even Team!
First of all, thank you very much for considering me and inviting me to such an event. I feel honored.
I confirm my attendance next Saturday. I’ll be attending alone. I hope to find good company there.
Instead of the black tie, I'll wear my black batsuit. I’d love to wear a beautiful evening cocktail dress, but I hope you understand the importance of keeping my civilian identity safe.

Miss Lang doesn't need to be introduced anymore, seen on different news channel and having won several prizes for her work.

GBS News is very excited to welcome those new faces in our roster and encourage you to check out their professional profile on our website right_here! Find Mister Rourke's profile interview to learn more about him on our Youtube channel right_here!
We certainly understand your concern, and are glad to have alleviated some of it. We recently had to upgrade our own cybersecurity as well.
Preferred deadline would be 48 hours ahead, so we can adjust seating plans and ensure dietary restrictions are respected.
Thank you. Not sure either is all that fond of the comparion however, so we'll keep that comment between us. But please, feel free to share your congratulations with Miss Lang herself at the cocktail and/or following dinner.
