Hello, welcome to my Circular Gallifreyan calligraphy workshop. I've got all sorts of stuff here. Here are the tags I use:

I do actually run a suggestion box. When I don't have any ideas on what to translate, but I still really feel like making something, I turn to my suggestion box and translate recreationally things ppl put there.

First of all thank youuuuuuu for all of these translations I felt like I had stumbled upon a gold mine when I first discovered this blog (I was so used to barely readable gallifreyan posts from Pinterest or ones that look cool but don’t actually make any sense)

Secondly thank you so much for the tutorials, I will never have to explain this again 🎉 (all the while being convinced there’s at least 50 rules I left out) from now on I can just direct people here because your tutorials are incredible again thank you so much

How do you tell apart a zero from a single j?

is there like a special rule for zeros I don’t know about or do you just tell from context

And about the J/0 thing: Very valid question, to be honest, since they are both plain circles. Yes, context definitely helps. I can't imagine a sentence in English that would require a single J as a separate word, so if you see that, it's probably a zero.

An easier way though, is this

At least that’s how I would tell them apart. J would be placed closer to the rim, since usually all letters in words are placed along the rim. And 0 would be right in the middle, like all numbers.

Also if you know me, you know I tend to make numbers with slightly thicker lines, but that it just my thing. I'm pretty sure nobody else does this

If I were to write a word with the line above the letters [ā,ē,ū,ī,ō] since it, at least in the language I am familiar with, elongates the sound, how would I do that? [genuinely wondering, as I use different alphabets to familiarise myself with how to spell new words] [and on another note, in the language I spoke of earlier, there are sounds like [wha] which sound like [fa] or [far] and [nga] like [singer] with an [a] at the end, if you have no idea how to help here, I completely understand]

Okay well, first of all I love how I answered one ask about Polish letters and suddenly I'm a medium 😅

Second of all, Circular Gallifreyan was created for English in the first place. The other letters, which were added later, are in Loren Sherman's tutorial (the fragment in question below)

But if the letters you're looking for are not in it, I repeat: invent your own. There is honestly nothing stopping you.

A few other ideas that I don't think have been used: dashed line around the circle, dashed circle in general, a line inside that doesn't touch the circle, sort of "claw marks" like with umlauts, but more than two

And as for the multi-letters, there is also this extended table. It is actually in the official tutorial (although I don't really like this one. I never use it. I prefer the original one, without the C, because I think it's funnier when you need to get creative to go around it lol). This one adds letters with one dot and four dots

NG existed in the basic version already, but this one also gives you WH - half circle with one dot.

Macbeth

Yeee, I watched it (the one with David Tennant obviously) and it actually made me hate it less. I even liked it.

I remember reading it in highschool and thinking it made no sense and was boring. I guess it just felt way more alive when I saw it acted out, instead of reading words on paper that looked all scrambled and messed up. It began to sound way more coherent (even though I still needed subtitles)...

LGBTQ+ and proud

The first batch of pride designs I uploaded in 2019 were tragically misspelled. The second batch of pride designs I uploaded in 2022 were linked to my Redbubble shop, which has since been shuttered. So here's iteration 3 of my Pride collection!

Aside from the first design, which just says "pride", each design features the phrase "[identity] and proud". I've got different colorways for each design that I'll be posting to Tumblr throughout the month.

All of my Pride designs are available for download in this GDrive folder if you'd like to use any of them as an icon! I also have stickers available on Etsy.

(Please note that the downloadable files are for personal use only. I do not grant permission to use or reproduce these images for commercial or retail purposes.)

It's hard to wholeheartedly say "Happy Pride" when things are looking so dicey for queer folks, and especially trans folks, these days. I mean, even at the most comically insignificant level, there's a good chance Tumblr flags this as mature content because I've included the trans flag. I'm full of so much fear and anger and heartbreak for my friends and my community. But there is something to be said about visibility as a form of resistance, visibility as a sort of quiet insistence that we're not going anywhere. At the end of the day, I'm queer, and I'm here, and I'm proud to be.
