I love these charts because I can read off a sentence like “An Occupied Coffin Is A Ravioli” to the household and immediately incur the wrath of every living thing in it, including the houseplants.
Despite their ostensible purpose to cover the upper torso and neck of their wearer, turtlenecks can also function within society as a sign of sexual availability and enthusiasm (in colloquial terms, they mark the wearer as ‘horny’). While contemporary social mores and fashion trends now allow for more skin to be displayed – hence the resurgence of the ‘crop top’ – lower temperatures still necessitate a degree of sartorial practicality. The turtleneck is the best example of this adjustment – it is both physically warming and draws attention to the vulnerability and vitality of the neck area, which self-described vampires and vampire-adjacent beings (particularly ‘gays’) are notably drawn to. In addition to the print terminology stuff: the visual shorthand icons and ad graphics for something about writing are still often pen-nibs, fountain pens and typewriters…
…while graphics of a monitor, keyboard and mouse remain visual shorthand for computing…
…even though most writers now use monitor / keyboard / mouse or even laptop / touchpad.
In addition, headers for “this blog / website is about writing” are often in one of the many imitation typewriter fonts complete with smudges, or just Courier.
The start and end call icons on most / all smartphones is still the handset of a classic desk telephone, and sometimes the open-app icon is a complete phone.
The term “hang up” for “end the call” refers to something even older - one of these…
And of course the Save icon is indeed a 3½ inch floppy disc.
Why it wasn’t a 5¼ floppy is a mystery. The icon version is just as distinctive.
Also, why various OP updates never changed “Save” to the graphic of a CD / DVD or flash drive is another mystery, and nowadays a Save icon should probably be a cartoon cloud.
Graphics and terminology are funny things.

I- so i’m not just fucking insane and evil?
I feel like a lot of peoples getting offended by this doesnt realize that none of those are actions we want to do. My ADD absolutely fills my head with extremely upsetting intrusive toughts almost 24/7. The very fact that they disgust me and upset me is what makes it an intrusive tought. Its not something you want to act upon, its your brain assaulting you non stop with everything that you hate and despise.
This idea that intrusive thoughts are someone’s “true id” talking is particularly harmful to us experiencing these thoughts themselves.
If y'all haven’t yet heard it before you heard it here now, these thought are everything we hate and despise, and nothing else.

Honestly most of my intrusive thoughts are self-loathing thoughts or self-harm thoughts rather than hurt others thoughts. Although I do get the other kind sometimes like when I see Donald Trump on the news. But mostly I just can’t stop myself from thinking hateful thoughts about me even though I’m actually working on my self esteem and have gotten better (in my conscious mind anyway).
why are there 5,000 people on this site holding back from doing something with literally zero repercussions for anyone in a world that will never remember the chances you didn’t take? don’t waste your time on this earth live your life slap some rice
Hi my job is literally to reset the shelves and honestly?? Slap that rice. Slap it good. patting down the bags makes it easier to stack more, which means when I have to do it it’ll be flatter and more settled and more likely that I can just slide it along without it slidin’ around. You are doing me a FAVOR by slapping that rice.

Not to offer advice nobody asked for but fixing ur sleep schedule is life changing
Things that actually work if u try at them:
Drinking water
No longer making self deprecating jokes
Making sure to take time out of the day to relax and take a breather
Lighting candles
Counting ur breaths in and out if ur having a panic attack
Getting up and trying to do one thing even if u can’t do everything maybe brushing ur teeth but not having the energy to shower
Taking a shower if you can, putting clean clothes on if you can’t, even just a clean set of pjs. Washing your face.
A couple weeks ago I was in a major depressive slump and was feeling really detached from reality. I was trying so hard to fight it but nothing I tried worked until I realized I hadn’t listened to any happy music in almost a week.
I didn’t feel like listening to anything at all but I put on my favorite playlist anyway. Take On Me started and I finger stimmed to the keyboard riff and hummed along and by the end of the song I was smiling. A few more songs and I was fully singing along and feeling more present than I had in days.
Even if it seems small and trivial, like putting on your favorite socks or looking up pictures of kittens, it might be something you need. Of course the music didn’t solve any of the problems I was upset about, but it did help me feel like I was a person again.
