havent finished watching that video but it did make me consider carol's "turn that thing off, it saves batteries" scene more seriously. i feel like this scene is a parallel to that scene where noelle uses one of her 99 blaze potions.

by not using the santa, it will last longer, but also, you bought it to use it, didn't you? that's why you have it. in your preservation you have made it pointless.

noelle does the same with her blaze potions - never uses them, instead favoring some hypothetical future use of them, which will never occur because she refuses to use them. just like how, if you save the santa's batteries, it will theoretically be able to serve its purpose for longer, but it actually won't because you're not using it.

she initially does just as her mother would expect her to, until someone else encourages her to break free - but it backfires.

rudy encourages noelle to use the blaze potion on the ice dragon, and in turn, she is burned. susie encourages noelle to rebel against her icy mother, and in turn, she is burned.
