SWORDTEMBER DAY 28:Ā ECLIPSE
Darktide, of bright edge and cosmic sway āļøš The gentle movement of uncaring giants shape us, our societies, our homes. Steal the sun from the sky, and watch our crops wither and our livestock freeze. No one among us can replace that light, no hearth can burn long enough to outshine and protect us. No one can plead with the moon, drunk on the light of the sun, for her to stumble away across the horizon. The sun cannot hear our cries, she cannot notice the absence of birdsong in the still, frigid air. All we can do is look up and pray that she might return to us, arms open in a warm embrace.Ā

Video game boss that's all bellowing bravado and big untargeted fuck-your-life attacks that hit half the arena, then for phase two they're like "hold up'' and put on a pair of ridiculously tiny glasses, and suddenly they're ten times as dangerous because now they can actually see what they're aiming at.
I'm cackling
i get asked regularly for photos of jpeg and it honestly feels like this every time
i have been informed of how foolish it was to post this without an actual photo of her. my apologies. i present: miss jpeg š¤²
im not immune to the condition that makes you think "but what if the evil alien/robot/eldritch entity/whatever that kills everyone was nicies to me. because im literally chill and have good vibes."
ššŖ®New CSP brushes up in my shop!šŖ®š
31 crisp and crunchy brushes made from scanned ink drawings. Included are a mix of seamless ribbons, natural fades and round fillers, with toggles for colour mixing, jitter, and starting/ending density for sharp opaque edges or soft painterly highlights alike. Hope you enjoy!
These and all my previous brushes do NOT require CSP version 5.x to use. As usual, my full library of brushes can also be accessed via my patreon at any tier.
Good news: if youāre currently laying around and not producing anything, you are a credit to your species.
Itās recently been found that even hive insects rest. Bees will play with colorful toys. Ants sleep for about 1 minute but they do it so frequently it amounts to a few hours per day. Even trees take breaks.
The only things that work without rest are machines; literally everything that lives requires rest.
EVERYTHING THAT LIVES REQUIRES REST. STOP JUDGING YOURSELF FOR NOT BEING A ROBOT.
robots require very frequent breaks! welding machines generally have it programmed in that they canāt run so long they melt themselves. ive overseen two different manufacturing robots now and each of them were fragile, finicky idiots that require constant maintenance and repair. they pause in between moves, in between jobs. youāre always keeping an eye on programming errors, on coolant levels, on heat. youāre always pulling bits of scrap out of joints, sweeping up debris, washing off nozzles and untangling hoses. and even then it snaps a chain and takes a whole morningās vacation.
even robots need downtime.
My favorite sea creature, the noble Tomopteris worm.Ā
Oh hey Iāve seen this guy before
don't ever look up what your childhood friends are up to now!!!!!!!!!! like girl you're a nuclear safety engineer. i put on matching socks today. we played tag a thousand years ago.
Yeah
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
a lot of people are reblogging this saying that most "lazy" people are actually just disabled or that the concept of laziness itself is a product of our society's obsession with productivity. this is all true, but it is not my point.
even if someone WAS just lazy and simply didn't want to do anything but lie on the couch and watch tv, they should still have these things. it's irrelevant whether some people aren't actually lazy because everyone, including hypothetical lazy people, should have their basic needs met.
if we have the resources to do it, there is no defense of letting people die because they don't want to work, and much less because they can't.
I don't want lazy people to have basic necessities because they "actually" deserve them because they ARE working or CAN'T work. I want lazy people to have basic necessities because they are people, and we shouldn't leave them to die when we have the resources not to.
Even if a person is purely lazy for the sake of being lazy what harm does that do anyone? Thatās like the least offensive thing ānegativeā thing to be. Kill the Calvinist in your mind people.
Iām probably just rehashing an observation that everyone and their mother has made at this point, but I love Shirahamaās creative use of the basic structural components of manga to further the storytelling.
Of course, thereās this panel from Chapter 1, where Qifrey is not only yanking Coco out of range of the forbidden spell that crystallized her mom, but pulling her from outside the frame (symbolizing her status as an āoutsiderā to witch society) into the panel with him (depicting her abrupt transition into their world).
Another example that caught my eye was this scene from the Qiflingsā trip to Kalhn, where the panelās border forms the flight of stairs that Coco dashes up to get to Nolnoaās shop, thus directing the readerās eye to the next page, where Qifrey, Richeh, and Tetia are waiting for her.
Or these speech bubbles, which are shaped like ragged scrolls to indicate that Coco is reading out loud from a book.
Other instances, like Qifrey leaning on the panel frame, may not serve a direct narrative purpose, but this playfulness creates the impression that the artwork might spring to life at any moment, as though you really are flipping through the enchanted pages of a spellbook.
i think we should put fossil fuels execs in hot humid cells so they can feel what itās like to slowly overheat and dehydrate and die in an inescapable oven where the air is so heavy and wet that sweating wonāt save them but itāll still take all the water from their bodies and they donāt get clean water to drink so they can experience the desperation of needing fluid so so bad but knowing it has a 50% chance of making them sick and killing them even faster and they donāt get to leave until they make an enforceable promise to do absolutely everything in their power to end climate change
I think I'm going to remember this phrase every time I cook for the next five years

*cracking open your moral intuition systems* ohhh i see, there's the issue, you're running secularism on a kernel built for protestant morality.
Tricky one cause the kernel's built around creating the need for salvation from a higher power, and you'll have to change up a lot of the systems for evaluating your own and others' moral worth to avoid operating with a deficit when there's no inbuilt release valve.
You haven't been going around making up ad-hoc solutions for redeeming sinners instead of trying to patch out the notion of sin, right?
