In case anyone hasn't heard, the cyclospora outbreak affecting tons of people in the US right now is coming from Taylor Farms produce. Best to stay away from bagged lettuce and prepared salads completely right now, but especially the ones mentioned in the screenshot:
Taylor Farms Earthbound Farms Little Salad Bar (Aldi) Marketside (Walmart) Kroger House Brand Target private label greens Costco salads and greens etc Trader Joe's chopped salad kits and fresh produce Fast food: McDonalds, Taco Bell, (Yum! Brands), Chipotle, Subway, Pizza Hut, KFC, Olive Garden, Top Golf, Red Lobster, Burger King, etc.
This is not the first time I've heard about a Taylor Farms foodborne illness outbreak. I stopped eating their salads after reading a description of the conditions in their facilities. Doesn't sound like they've improved anything.
We need a fully funded and staffed FDA, and regulations with teeth - and that's exactly what we don't have under Trump. To make things worse, the CDC is no longer tracking these outbreaks. We're on our own.
It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.
"The horrors persist but so do libraries, books, iced coffee, sunsets, trees, the word 'fuck', the moon and the sea."
I don't know who my intended audience is here, so whoever needs to hear this, I am begging you to learn to participate in conversations that are about things you aren't interested in.
Part of socializing and having friends is being a good listener even when you don't actually give a shit about the subject.
Your are hurting other people's feelings when you bluntly respond with "Anyway..." and then change the topic.
It can not always be about your preferred topic.
You are being rude. Yes, even if you are neurodivergent. You can be both autistic and rude.
Genuinely. It is fucking exhausting to talk to someone who does not know how to do this. You end up carrying the entire conversation on your fucking back and never get a turn not doing that. Because that's what having a conversation is supposed to be like! You are supposed to take turns talking about Your Thing, so you get to talk about Your Thing while others listen and lean in, and then after a little while someone else gets to talk about Their Thing that they like while you listen and lean in.
The part where you lean in, which is to say, the part where you show interest in the topic they're discussing with you and actually participate in that discussion actively, is arguably the most important part if you're trying to form some kind of connection with someone, and it is a skill that you can learn. It will feel like hard work to begin with but gets easier with time and practise, and is vital if you don't want people to think you're a selfish cunt. Pay attention to what they're saying about it and ask questions about the bits they seem most interested in so they get more opportunity to talk about it, and when it's your turn, they'll do the same for you. You might even learn something new!
Please make a fucking effort.
Sincerely, Someone delighted to be estranged from his mother, who did this shit constantly and was nothing but a drag to have a conversation with.

On this, the anniversary of the lunar landing, let us also celebrate the greatest post-mission achievement by a crewman.
I refer, of course, to the time Buzz Aldrin (age 72 at the time) cold-cocked a moon landing conspiracy theorist straight in his smug face after being accused of being a coward, liar, and thief.
Yes, someone was indeed dumb enough to tell a man so unafraid of death that he was willing to go into the void on a fragile explosive rocket, a coward.
Said dumbass was filming this confrontation as some sort of proof of moon fraud, but has instead captured this glorious moment of near-cosmic justice for us to loop for all time.
Aldrin was not charged with any crime. He should have been given another medal for public service.
Said dumbass tried to take Aldrin to court for assault and was thrown out on his metaphorical ass, being cited as the instigator of the incident after luring Aldrin into a meeting under false pretenses (telling the former astronaut he was being interviewed for a children's program).

honestly âthe lion doesnât concern himself withâ is a pretty good anti-ocd phrase
the lion doesnât concern himself with managing other peopleâs feelings
the lion doesnât concern himself with what ifs
the lion doesnât concern himself with germs
the lion doesnât concern himself with reliving that one excruciatingly painful moment for the one thousandth time and imagining a better response

Papercraft commission of Corbeau from Pokémon Legends: Z-A! I really enjoyed all the poison-esque details of his design on his lapels, glasses and coat lining, so I tried to make them stand out with shimmery holographic paper. The marbled magenta paper on the inner lining of his coat, in particular, is a longtime favorite of mine, but I rarely get the chance to use it, so I was excited that it suited Corbeau so well!

AI will NEVER deliver on the promises made by the most greedy, desperate, investment-starved tech bro con artists.
Look what Meta did with the their metaverse, Horizon Worlds. They wasted $70 billion on something with zero demand.
Now they pivoted to AI. Another 'forced demand' strategy. Provide cheap AI to get people hooked, they drive up the price. It's unsustainable.
