Just like, thinking about design in general, not every alien/monster is going to be the wild sex dream with big ridged tentadick/mating cycles/oviposition/tentacles/pheromones or whatever combo, sometimes it might be something “boring” even in comparison to humans that’s valid too

Actually, let me elaborate cause i dont think i phrased it right, ‘cause i dont if i would call what i had in mind vanilla and im not really thinking of mosnters with human dicks

I meant like, monster with a mating process that kinda underwhelming even in comparison to basic human suff

One basic example i can think that kinda like that is Salarians from mass effect, who have low sex drives, only have cloacas that most likekley arent meant for penetration, and tend to only have sex when a contract has been arranged between two families for the purpose of reproduction

Still alien, but kinda “boring”

And we could go one step further and idk, remove genitalia all together or just make it very different that only gets off theough frottage, or idfk maybe there’s a species that literally gets pregnant through kissing

Honestly, I think taking a species who’s genitalia/reproductive processes are completely incompatible with yours and figuring out how you can still get each other off is one of the great things about alien/monster sex. 

Like, careful curious exploration and weird surprises and making it work even though it’s nothing like what you expected is one of my favorite things. 

It’s less ‘sexy’ maybe, but a lot more intimate.

It’s not as convenient for ‘im going to fuck this random alien in a space port bathroom’ but if what you’re in the mood for is more of a ‘i’m in love with this alien and the fact that we’re incredibly different from each other is part of what I love about them and I want to find a way to make them feel good’ then it’s the best shit.

Honestly the main appeal of terato/xenophilia for me is the romance aspect that two physically different individuals would find out how to make it work because they love each other so much. Writing sex is fun, but conveying true love and intimacy is even better
