In our schools they have long units on black history, where we read Zora Neale Hurston and watch MLK speeches. Meanwhile the campus is filled with cops who racially profile the students.

California is like if tumblr was a state. Pride parades are whites selling their stickers. #womens businesses that pay black women less. Oh and LA, and Hollywood. Maybe you can buy a shirt of a minion with a pride flag. Oh, maybe you can get a BLM pin at hot topic. Doesn't stop your neighbor from being a racist though.

one thing that I'll never forget was that when I went to the LA lgbt center to get my prescription filled, the waiting room had padlocks on the electrical outlets, because they didn't want people charging their phones. I had to wait a long time for my prescription, and I needed to charge my phone and use the restroom, but that city is extremely hostile to homeless people, so I had to go to the library to do both of those things. you'd think the lgbt center would've been different, but no, not really. this organization boasted about how progressive and diverse it was, but even in just the span of a year, my doctor changed 3 times, because they kept quitting to work somewhere else. apparently the working conditions were terrible there, and judging by the way they treated their patients, I'm not surprised...
