Hot take ig but I honestly think the show should be able to go a lot deeper with fives character, like they’ve barley touched on the intensity of his trauma and how he’s literally a whole ass adult with decades of life and experience, but I think simply because he’s played by a younger dude and a big part of his arc is the fact that he’s stuck in a younger body stops them from actually evolving and exploring his character. Plus most of the fandom would go apeshit over anything remotely weird or problematic involving him and most people treat him like a child even though in canon/in universe he’s literally not and shouldn’t be treated as such

ABSOLUTELY! Since Five is usually the one to move the plot along, whenever we see him on screen it’s less about him and more about the action. Although, I believe Aidan Gallagher does a great job giving a lot of depth and detail to the character, as well as managing to act a believable adult. I think he’s good enough to be able to handle a darker dive into Five’s psychology (especially the ptsd, like, remember those flashbacks in s1???) and hopefully we’ll get to see that soon!

On the topic of ‘weird or problematic’, it really annoys me that most people straight up act like hes just a murderous boss baby. Things like his relationship with the handler and his sexuality/emotional availability overall are quite interesting, especially considering his age predicament, but people are too afraid to even have a discussion, lest they be branded pedophile. I feel like the show creators feel the same, which is a shame and a missed opportunity.

Five/Klaus | Serendipity

The bond between Klaus and Five was a chain forged in disaster.

Both were sold by anonymous mothers to a billionaire who would never love them. They endured torture and abuse framed as training, teaching them to master the powers they’d never asked for in the first place.

They became friends first, opposite personalities that somehow struck a perfect balance. As they grew closer, their feelings deeper, finding each other began to seem like fate.

In another life, they never would have met. Every misfortune pulled them closer, formed a bond that was unexpectedly beautiful, and they wouldn’t trade it.

Five/Klaus | Lie

Five wakes up to Klaus’s lips against his cheek, words vibrating softly against his skin. “Did you have a bad dream?”

Five pushes him back and wipes away the lingering feeling of Klaus’s touch. “No.”

But he did. He always does.

Every night, Five dreams of ashes and loneliness, of his siblings’ broken bodies scattered amongst the rubble.

When Klaus says, “you can talk to me, you know,” Five lies and says, “I know.”

They don’t talk about the apocalypse or long nights in the mausoleum— not with words. When Klaus takes his hand, Five squeezes so hard it hurts.

I think the siblings are totally aware that five is hell-bent to save the world. What they’re not quite aware of is that five’s hell-bent to save the world for them

Considering five’s attitude (”You think you’re better than us. You always have”), his siblings probably think that five’s desire to save the world is mostly for his own gain 

If only they knew that five wouldn’t bother if it weren’t for them

Giving up control was easy when he’d never really had it in the first place. Being part of the Umbrella Academy meant growing up with no freedom, trapped under Reginald Hargreeves’ domineering thumb.

For Klaus, being on his knees had always made sense, ready to accept a cock or a punch to the face—whatever his partner thought he deserved.

What he wasn’t ready for was Five touching his cheek, telling him, “say ‘umbrella’ if you want me to stop, okay?”

Submitting to Five was different. He felt secure. Safe.

For the first time, Klaus was the one in control.

I’m trying to get back into writing 100 word drabbles (which I haven’t done in like 10 years lol), so I of course I started with one about Klaus. I chose the prompt “notice” from a random prompt list, but I’m thinking I’ll do requests for these if anyone is interested?? Klaus + Notice

Klaus has always liked attention, no matter who it comes from—craves it like a drug.

Being noticed for his outfits and humor hardly seems different than the glares from strangers when he’s too drunk, too high, too loud. Attention is attention; it doesn’t matter as long as they see what he wants them to see.

Dad’s voice in his head tells him he’s weak, useless, and Klaus buries his shortcomings under a flamboyant camouflage. It’s a mask that Dad looked right through with a disappointed scowl, but it works on strangers.

Klaus likes being noticed. He hates being seen.
