End of petition for Pippie

Thank you to all who have signed.  Sadly enough we can't help Pippie, her kittens or the second cat they have adopted recently.  The Animal Welfare for our region has decided that only professional breeders have to take good care of their cats and kittens.  Other people are free to breed kittens as they wish and sell them the way they want to.  And this with the green light from the politician who is responsible in Belgium for Animal Welfare.

I am just an ordinary person and if no organisation that can truly help out, is willing to help Pippie, her kittens and also all other cats and kittens in bad situations in our region, then there is nothing much I can do anymore.  Sadly enough.  Animal Welfare want us to look the other way when it comes to Pippie and her kittens and I fear this is all that is left for us to do.

With much sadness we decided thus to end the petition and let the situation be.

  It is sad when there is in your country a law that protects cats and kittens from situations as this but that the institution responsible for making people abide this law, doesn't care enough to also act when needed and protect animals in need.

Thank you all for signing.  Sadly enough we couldn't gain a victory.

Second cat in Hellhole

Just saw today that Pippies owners have adopted another cat from Spain.  Will this cat get the same treatment as Pippie and her kittens?  Is the cat adopted to also serve as a profit making machine like Pippie? 

I just want to go and sit in a corner and cry. 

What good is a service Animal Wellfare when they don’t do anything against things like this?

Dear people,

today we got a letter from the Belgian Animal Wellfare stating that they regret the dead kittens off Pippie and the situation Pippie is in.  However ...  They will not interfere as they claim to miss the necessary people to follow up on this case.

They claim that the amount of notifications is through the roof and that Pippie isn't the only notification that is being ignored by them.  However the departments off three of the four districts they have under their care, actually do manage to be on top of not all the notifications, but also to actually provide help for the animal in need.  These three departments also have already given their support to our notification, stating that it is a real scandal that the department under which our regio falls, doesn't do anything to help Pippie.

So, are we to believe that they are truly short staffed?  Is the regio where I live populated with so many cruel people towards animals that the department responsible for my regio can't handle all the notifications they receive?  Or is this just a standard letter they send out when they have enough of people hassling them concerning a notification they themselves chose to ignore?  My bet is on the last one, but even if I am wrong, then there is no excuse for them to let animals go on suffering just because it entails just one animal and not a horde so to speak that gives them tv time when they do interfere there. We will continue to lobby for Pippie and her kittens.  They get paid by our taxes to help animals in need, so let them then also do their freaking job!

Please keep asking friends to share and sign the petition too.  After today's letter it has become very clear that we will need all the signatures we can get before it is not only too late again for Pippie's latest litter of kittens but also for Pippie herself. Thank you in advance.

Please continue to help Pippie ...

Thank you all already for signing this petition but please help us too to spread the word. Help us to gain enough signatures so the Belgian Animal Wellfare services no longer feel they can ignore this case. Ask friends, loved ones to please sign too and to help spread the word about the petition.

Pippie no longer shows up for food and the door to the pen she was held in with her last litter of kittens, is back closed. Of course we have no guarantee as we can't set foot on the property of Pippie's owners or they will have us arrested but we fear Pippie has given birth.

New calls to alert the Belgian Animal Wellfare have resulted in once again no result as they still feel one cat and her litters of kittens don't justify the effort they have to make for that cat and her kittens. Please help us to show them we won't stand for that reply. Help us to let the Belgian Animal Wellfare know we don't accept such a response.

Placed update on the international petition site

This is what the Belgian Animal Wellfare calls a good home for a cat and her litters of kittens. A little shed packed with junk and garbage, a box with blanket dropped between for her and her kittens.  One dirty litter box for one adult cat and four kittens, refreshed only after seven days (the picture was taken on day three of the seven days).  Dirty, previously used food bowls laying around and attracting vermin.  Big gaps below the panels through which the kittens can easily escape to the busy street and wind and rain easily enter the shed. And this is what the Belgian Animal Wellfare calls good care for kittens. Third eyelid covering half of the eye of the kittens, red and swollen. The Belgian Animal Wellfare finds it more than correct that no treatment is given to these kittens. But do we agree? No, we don't! This is no good and suitable environment for a mother cat and her kittens. This is not properly taking care of kittens and a cat. This is not taking one's responsibility for one's pet! Raise your voice with me and let the Belgian Animal Wellfare know that we don't accept this. Pippie and her kittens deserve better!

Making a profit

The two remaining kittens after we had to return them by law.  The first one started at a minimum bidding of 75 euro (last pic), the second one a minimum bidding of 100 euro (first pic).  Neither were vaccinated, sterilised and chipped despite the law in Belgium that states that all kittens and cats, when changing from owner, need to be chipped, vaccinated and sterilised.  The kittens weren’t treated either for fleas.  The treatment against worms that is spoken off in the add is because we gave them a cure against worms because our vet thought the eye problems perhaps originated from a severe worm infection since eye salve didn’t bring forth the necessary result.  The family was furious with us that we had dared to use any meds for the kittens and never paid any of the medical costs or the food cost or other costs back.  At their home the kittens had to eat cheap adult cat food although they claimed to the police that they gave Pippie and the kittens Royal Canin, so expensive food.  If this is Royal Canin then I seriously need to have my eyes checked:

I think it is safe to say that the family made in the end a big profit since people did bid on them and the selling price went above the minimum starting bid.

International petition suddenly going strong

Thank you all for the sudden increase in signatures. Please keep telling your friends and loved ones of the petition and ask them to sign and spread the news too.

Pippie is still pregnant but the delivery of her kittens can happen any day now. For now she is still looking well, although too skinny compared to other cats that are pregnant the same amount of days, but she has become very skittish for some reason. Perhaps because she is feeling the delivery of her kittens approaching?

Thanks anew for the support . Here she is. Still running free as she hasn't given birth yet and isn't locked up yet with her kittens. Coming to get a feed on our driveway.

Save Pippie from puppy mill practices

Every animal deserves protection! That’s why we have started this petition in the hope of helping cat Pippie.

Who is Pippie? Unfortunately, Pippie is not an ordinary house cat that enjoys a warm and soft basket. Pippie lives in a dirty box in the village Rijkevorsel in Belgium and she is used for breeding purposes. Medical care is missing for her and for every litter of kittens she brings to the world. Pippies kittens are sold for a lot of money without complying with the law for cat and kitten adoption imposed here in Belgium – that is if the kittens survive the first weeks of their lives. Unhealthy kittens ‘just disappear’ …

What can you do to help Pippie? Up to now notifications have been reported to both the Belgian Animal Welfare Service and the Belgian police department without any success as both services find one cat not worth the trouble. We are now trying to save Pippie by collecting signatures. By bringing Pippies case under the attention of a broad public we hope to finally be able to give this brave little mother the very much needed help she deserves. And hopefully also for all other cats that are used for gain of wealth. Every animal deserves respect!

What we hope to achieve with your help? With this petition we request at the Belgian Animal Welfare Service: – That a new home gets searched for Pippie. – That Pippie gets finally sterilized. – That Pippie and her kittens get normal medical care. – That Pippies new litter of kittens finds a new home according to the Belgian law for adoption. – That, if it appears that the current owners are willingly refusing their animals normal care, they are forbidden to keep pets from here on out.

Pippies leefsituatie / Pippies living conditions

Rommelhok met ergens ertussen gepropt een doos met dekentje.  Eén vuile kattenbak voor één volwassen kat en vier kittens waarmee ze een week moesten doen vooraleer die werd ververst (foto is van dag drie van de zeven).  Vuile, eerder gebruikte schoteltjes eten die niet verwijderd werden en ongedierte aantrekken.  Grote openingen langs waar de kittens gemakkelijk onderdoor kunnen glippen naar straat en waarlangs wind en regen binnenkomt.

Petitie: Red Pippie

Elk dier, zelfs als het maar om één kat gaat, verdient bescherming!  Daarom hebben wij deze petitie gestart in de hoop poes Pippie te kunnen helpen.  Pippie is spijtig genoeg niet een gewone huiskat die geniet van een zacht en warm mandje maar wordt gebruikt voor broodfok.  Medische verzorging ontbreekt voor haar net zoals voor de nestjes kittens die ze ter wereld brengt.  Kittens die als ze het overleven worden verkocht zonder te voldoen aan de wettelijke bepalingen die hier in België zijn opgelegd.  Tot op heden hebben meldingen bij zowel de dienst Dierenwelzijn als de politie nog geen soelaas gebracht voor Pippie’s situatie dus hopen wij met het verzamelen van voldoende handtekeningen Pippie  alsnog te kunnen helpen en haar het warme, veilige en goede thuis te bezorgen dat zij, net als elke andere kat, verdient.
