Been watching doctor who for a while and I’m sorry but I can’t get over the blatant racism in how they treat Mickey. As much as the dynamic between the doctor and rose is well written, it’s pretty difficult for me to like Rose as a character (like i thought I would!) when the first main black character since The moonbase is treated like shit by both the narrative and the characters. Which is why I can’t really enjoy Roseten or Ninerose as well. Imagine if Mickey was the one who was in love with the doctor and became the companion, while Rose was constantly sidelined and was frequently antagonized by the doctor and let Mickey sleep around: would people be more accepting then?

To be fair, i did like the 2 Cybermen episodes where did more with his character, but i still feel feel like the racism with Mickey is still egregious😭

Just wanted to bring to your attention that the term whump was actually coined by the Stargate fandom specifically to describe making this guy suffer. He is the original Mr. Whump (no that's not his actual name). That's how torturable this guy is.
