Back with another CV (after 10 years) gameplay review!! Continued from this post!
I forgot to mention in my previous posts that, in fact, what played a big role in giving me the unexplainable creeps at the earlier part of the game was the somber background music that played all over the town. I've always regarded this tune as one of the most catchy and nostalgic pieces in layton music, but having it along with the lifeless images of the town and the eerie mood that sets at the beginning of the game just so strongly accentuated the specific gloom of the setting.
As familiar as it was, having the melody of the song in my head was so striking that each time I would close my DS after playing, I was briefly left feeling slightly depressed and anxious. Wasn't that serious but certainly not the best feeling. It's catchy and iconic, but still has something in it that makes you feel uneasy. I mean, playing a game that is so old and one that I remember playing at such a young age can get you melancholic, I guess.
I just got at the part just after the ferris wheel chase, and now I can say at this point the the strange feeling of uneasyness is almost gone now, as I progress more into the game and dig into the backstory. I actually enjoyed looking around the amusement park, as a person who loves anything of the sort and its aesthetics, and I loved how the obscurely sad sounding music went perfectly well with its desolate and empty feeling.
The park may as well be one of the few places in the game that I like being at, besides the Reinhold manor (As I mentioned before most of the streets of St. Mystere freak me out😅).
And if I may add another personal flashback story of mine, I believe this is the place where I, as a 9 year old child, got stuck on and never got to proceed further until I picked up on it like 4 years later.
I am almost sure it was this puzzle, which was practically impossible for me at that time to solve by myself, since I didn't even know how to search in the internet for walkthroughs (lol.) But today I managed to solve it within 18 moves! I have a bigger brain now. However I am still weak at these types of sliding puzzles, and I hate it whenever puzzles like this appear in the newer sequels and I'd sometimes just let the walkthroughs do the work for me😭
10 years is a long time, cause from this point onward I admit I have almost no memory of what happens next in the game. I'll look forward to it i guess. Now, will I write another update once I get closer to the finish line? Hopefully I'll be able to create a few more paragraphs once again. See yall when the time comes!
