I love being covid conscious and everyone around me tolerating my respie wearing habits but not doing anything to really mitigate the spread of viruses

We live in different worldviews, but the same world. Covid still affects both of us, I’m just the one who isn’t in denial.

I get angry sometimes, but I keep it to myself. Who else would I have if I cut them out? I’d have no one.

Even talking to them about how covid works as a virus is like talking to a wall. They just don’t want to think about it at all.

So here we are, living in 2 different worldviews, loving each other anyway. It’s complicated and I try to make the best of it.

note: respirators aren’t the only way to mitigate viruses, they’re just a good way. if you don’t feel safe wearing one, you can still encourage your community to use air purifiers and get their vaccine boosters. and if it’s an anti vax community, air purifiers will be the easiest way to make some kind of progress. anything better is better.

#I do sometimes go without it if there’s enough social pressure #but over 75% of the time I’m wearing a respirator #and if you’re someone who feels like ‘why bother if I won’t wear it 100% of the time 100% perfectly’#did you know that 75% is a big difference in protection levels #like that’s being better protected the majority of the time #so why not do it #still coviding #covid is still a thing #long covid #covid isn't over #covid awareness #covid 19 #covid conscious #mask up #disabled #spoonie

Finally the long overdue...

Zine post! Yayyy my first zine! I've printed and distributed this at Comifuro 22 as a freebies alongside senshi sticker!

i made this zine in response to generative AI, focusing on the joy i get from art and hoping to convey back my love for artists i've supported through these years. It was a fun experience making this!!!

I still figuring things out, so the end result is far from perfect. I wish to create more zines and share my love for certain topics to other people!

The pre-teen version of nihilism that drips from each comment I get about "you know that mask only protects other people, right?" makes me physically sick like, even assuming they are correct (which they're not: even surgical masks reduce how many aerosolized pathogens you inhale by ~15-30% depending on situation and fit, and the N99-rated elastomeric I use in everyday life blocks about 99.6% of all airborne particles) why is it a cringeworthy thing to protect others from illnesses like covid, flu, colds, and more which we know to spread asymptomatically and presympomatically? Their thinly veiled accusation is that we're uninformed or clueless and doing nothing but virtue signaling, and in every accusation is a confession. These people have no idea how respirators or disease spread work and they're virtue signaling that they're useless libertarian blowhards who thinks it's not worth even minimal effort to keep the people around them safer and healthier.
