past that, w3schools is your friend and is a great place to get started, stack overflow is your friend when you get stuck, and MDN is your friend once you get to advanced beginner level. honestly just pick a project and start trying to do something with it, learn as you go, and remember everything is a box.

that might sound silly, but once i Fully Realized that everything is a box it made mocking things up in CSS a lot easier. you aren't "making youtube", you're making a box to hold an image of the video, another box to hold the pfp and the video details (each in their own box), a third box as a divide between the video and the replies, a repeatable box for each of the comments… etc. it's all just boxes.

i've (hopefully) got a 2-for-1:

1: a somewhat in-depth tutorial on how to abuse gradients to pretty-ify things

2: a meditation on time passing disguised as a fic where you are a Q (star trek)

#1 is done, i just need to transfer it over to ao3 and fix the problems attached with the former. #2 is in early stages, but the biggest hurdle has been stumbled over and jumped.
