Hey, I was wondering if you could tell me about how it's like having ASPD? I rarely ever see anyone talking about it, and the few people I see talking about it are those ~edgy teens~ trying to look "cool". So I really wanted to hear about it from someone who actually deals with it, you know? I feel like I'm rather ignorant in the subject, as the few contents about it I've encountered all revolve around serial killers. Thanks in advance!
I’m not that good at talking about my ASPD in depth because I’m never open about it in real life and the line between “normal” and ASPD is still somewhat unclear to me, if that makes sense. But I’ll try my best.
ASPD is a wide range of symptoms, from the stereotypical serial killer to the docile sociopath who doesn’t typically go out of his way to hurt people. From what I’ve seen, the latter is more common. Personally, I’m somewhere in between the two. I never resort to violence - not because of morals, but because whatever the gain may be wouldn’t be worth the consequences. I don’t have a problem with hurting and manipulating people, but I don’t go out of my way to do it unless there’s a personal gain. Pretty much everything I do is self-serving.
Like I said, I’m probably really bad at explaining this, but I hope that gave you a somewhat decent sample of a lot of sociopaths’ thought processes?
