Follow this link to see the newest lesson plan from Games+Learning+Society! It's based off of knowledge gained from playing Virulent, our viral infection-based video game.

In this multimedia lesson students will relate what they have learned about viruses in Virulent to real virus outbreaks by exploring infamous worldwide flu pandemics. This lesson is designed to cross categorically compliment science, social studies and reading. Students will begin by reviewing how the virus invades and takes over after infection and how vaccines can prevent outbreaks. The following research component familiarizes students with the history of the influenza virus.

In this short lesson students will explore the properties of hydrophobic and hydrophilic substances with a quick activity using oil and water. Students will then relate this activity to the basic structure of a phospholipid and how these molecules form the cell membrane of a cell.

Creative writing is an effective tool for encouraging the use and strengthening of literacy in any classroom. In this lesson, which coincides with Progenitor-X (a free, computer-based video game from Games+Learning+Society), students will be asked to draft a work of creative writing which depicts both their understanding of the aspects regenerative medicine as well as their ability to create a work of fiction which incorporates many literary elements. Our newest lesson plan, this time for Anatomy Browser, is here! In this lesson, in connection with learning about the circulatory system and the functions of the heart, students will work together in small groups to create a short animation of the journey of a blood cell through the body.
