The Blue Spirit

I’ve always loved art nouveau so I thought I’d try drawing Tutu and Kraehe in the style of art nouveau jewelry. The designs were inspired by the works of Philippe Wolfers and René Lalique.

For Tutu, the wings are based on the wings on her pendant. The plant above her is the ivy, which symbolize love and attachment (as ivys cling to their host tree even after the tree has died). In keeping with the jewelry look, I tried to make her wings look like they’re made of opal, her bracelets are amber, and the pink of her skirt from the shell of a queen conch.
