Everyone keeps saying that Bear should have wished for the confidence to ask Nikki out or any other number of differently worded wishes

But I’m sitting here like: if Bear just gave Nikki the gift he bought FOR HER, all of this would have been prevented.

So even from the very beginning of the film, we see that Bear is completely fine with taking everything away from Nikki. He never gives anything in return.
