European Climate Change Strike.
The next strike in the UK and Europe is on the 24th of May! Be there!!!
Climate Change: my thoughts for today.
Hey!
I’m very sorry I’ve not been all too active on here - life sometimes throws us a wobbly ball.
Before you read this please note: I SAY YAY TO JUSTICE AND YAY TO JUSTICE FOR THE PLANET. BOTH MUST BE CHANGED AT THE SAME TIME. This post is purely thought and not a belief set in concrete. I DO NOT WISH TO CAUSE OFFENSE TO ANYONE and if I have please message me so I can take it down and we can discuss. I am aware my standpoint of view, is that of privilege.
I’m very sad that I have been unable to attend the climate strike today, I’m on holidays, which means family visiting. However, my lack of protest for today has not lessened my determination. This past week I have been informing all around me about the dangers of single-use plastics. My mum’s friend bought her first re-useable coffee cup, all because of my lecturing. Just spreading the word, enables action to occur, and these small actions can ultimately make the biggest difference.Â
If you have read my posts, with any vague regularity, it will have been clear to you that I am passionate about a wide range of social injustices; in an ideal world, I wish I could enable the eradication of all of them. I am one. Even with vast support from friends and family, it is not enough. Whether I am in a position of power or am still seated on my bed, like at this very moment. So with much reluctance, I have accepted my belief that stopping climate change; is the biggest injustice facing our generation, this race. Ever. If climate change isn’t stopped, isn't reversed, I see no way for humanity to change it’s belief patterns injustice. The poor will be sacrificed to the ‘affordable’ housing in areas threatened by rising sea levels and those from less developed countries (less developed because of colonialism they faced from western countries in the past) will be locked into areas of extreme drought and heat. The minorities who are facing a variety of ‘isms’ now, will be forced to bear the brunt of suffering caused by climate change: a list which goes on and on and on. The wealthier, people in society (many of whom who have suffered less is society as they fit the norm) will be able to lock themselves away in places of safety and bury their heads in the sand.Â
Climate change will cause regression in human rights, in the acceptance and tolerance of others. Similarly to the HIV crisis in the late 20th century regressing the progress against homophobia many had made, due to fear; climate change will only give the oppressors in society, an excuse for inhumane beliefs and actions.
There is no option to but to reverse climate change; progress made everywhere else will be destroyed due to its inevitable effects.
PLEASE NOTE: I believe every single being should be treated with equal equity and justice. But we must treat our planet with the same respect for it to work. Loving our only home will encourage the love of human beings. Or maybe my opinion is purely the product of white privilege?
Sorry for a not so cheering Friday evening post.

a little thing...
Always remember that asking someone if they are okay, is never going to do harm. It might just add a sprinkle of sunshine to their existence.

If you weren't at a climate change march yesterday, you should have been. In London there were 20,000 students at least. Streams of climate enthusiasts charged out of Westminster tube station, with an abundance of ingenious placards. I still wished there were more. Politicians turned another blind eye. Police kettled us and did everything in their power to break us up. The empowerment of youth threatens society's pattern of age oppression. We challenged it. We strike again on the 12th of April.

Anna xxx
I had the most empowering day yesterday. 20,000 young people gathered in London (as well as all over the globe), to demand action over climate change. Nothing has happened. We will strike again. I will strike again, and I encourage you to do so too.
I believe that Native American principles should be used in modern society: cherishing and protecting the earth we have been given. Their lessons of respect and kindness are essential to caring for our planet.
Getting ready to attend the strike in London on Friday!!!
Oooof it's from my personal! I hope you like my sign: I’ve posted to encourage more people to join.Â
love,
AnnaÂ
Sometimes all you need to make the day better is a little bit of sunshine xxx
Grief - understanding the differences.
It is inevitable that as an individual you will have to deal with death. Many of us will watch, some of our, friends and family die; in ways both traumatic and expected. We want to help one another cope with this when it happens, yet that isn’t what I wish to talk about here.Â
Everyone grieves in different ways, and just because they aren’t bawling their eyes out over someone’s death, doesn’t mean they don’t care, that it doesn’t hurt them every ounce the same as it does you.Â
What do I believe the most essential thing to do when supporting a grieving friend? Understand that their experience is their own. Be the shoulder to cry on and the hand to hold when they need it, but do not force your affection and opinion onto the situation. They may come to you crying, no word may be said. Understand them well enough to understand their requirements and ensure the guilt you feel about their suffering isn’t forced upon them.Â
When someone is grieving its about them: please don’t ever make it about you.Â

Public Transport - it’s not as bad as people say.
I am writing this as I sit on a train from Kings Lynn to London. A trip that takes under two hours on the train; compared to a polluting car journey of around three hours to arrive at the same destination.Â
The lack of pollution.Â
No matter what your train, bus or tram is like in quality, surely the thought that you are doing something great for the planet is enough? The amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere is significantly less when we all travel in larger vehicles together. Trains can also run of electricity rather than fossil fuels; we all know that electricity can be produced in alternative, non polluting ways - so YAY to electric trains!
Wifi
I’d estimate that about 70% of buses and trains etc, have free internet access. So instead of using your data to continue work and messing around on the internet; why not use a free service?Â
Travelling Together
You can only fit so many people in a car and usually one poor individual has to do all the driving, as well as footing the bill for petrol. As many of your friends and family can travel together on public transport. No effort needs to be put in to drive the vehicle , from an individual, and everyone will pay for their own fee.Â
The Service
The most common criticism of public transport, that delays and cancelled trains can leave you waiting for ages in the cold and wet. Many train lines are very efficient these days, and troubles on the line can be predicted most of the time - check NationalRail’s website before you travel! The services will not be improved without the demand, so suffer for a little to make public transport better in the coming years!
I’m going to continue my journey now - why don’t you begin yours?
Love, Anna xxx
P.S - Want to make a huge difference to the accessibility of public transport - join students as they strike on the 15th of March. The larger the numbers, the bigger the impact.
Good News
In my English lessons over the next weeks, we will be doing presentations, on a topic of our choice. I have chosen INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISM !!!Â
So over the next few weeks I’m going to have some (hopefully great) content to post. Whoop I should be more active.
love,
Anna xx
