it's been 3 weeks and can confirm i'm still not over mclaren racing live in miami. might never be. pictured: me having absolutely HEINOUS thoughts about andrea across the road from him, a protracted amount of time where oscar, zak and lando were doing their media together Right There, and oscar waving to his people.

we changed our whole holiday so we could go to this when they announced who was going to be there lmao. i'm talking extending the trip, flight changes, extra hotels. would do it all over again no questions!

the 'north' section of the showrun with the bleachers and early access to some of the activations seemed to be mainly for media and influencers, and i think we got the best view of the 'south' we could have imagined. a mother and son walked away from the barriers just as we got there and @peachbel1ini did NOT hesitate to slip us right in, and then there was 1.5h (!) of them doing media across from us. poor fellas. (also poor us, we were suffering in the heat, dehydrated, delirious, etc.)

an hour or so later they started the showrun: fast, loud, incredible smell. ended with lando and oscar doing dual laps together and then all the historic cars parked up on the grid in front of us and the drivers climbed out to go over to the stage and flirt horrendously with each other. martin brundle was onstage at one point too, do NOT try and keep him away from a mclaren event.

after the showrun we had to show Some Self Control in all the shops (came empty handed out of reiss, please be proud) - came away with an art print, a cropped event t-shirt, 1000th gp t-shirt, 1000th gp hats (x2) and i accidentally paid $3 for a crappy paper bag because i thought it might be a cool tote that people were walking around with. alas, i'm not an influencer. over the 'north' side - where you could go after the showrun - there were other activations like a sim, the trophies, trivia, pit stop, google gemini stuff, etc and you could wander the track back up through the cars which was super cool! we ended the night with a sweetgreen and life was so, so good.

finishing this post with the incredible drinks that were available if it hadn't been too late for caffeine. @ mclaren bring the 'exclusive drink art' to future grands prix please 😂
