*Ath sits in the corner of his room, with the lights off and the door shut. He'd been scratching his arms with his claws for what felt like hours, and seemed to be lost in the feeling of it. He winces as a claw digs especially deep, and wipes the blood from it on his fur. Thinking he had no chance of being found, he hadn't locked his door.*

Deme... We really should do something with Ath. I know he likes his space, but....
Don't you think he's been spending too much time in that room? What if we surprised him with a... Movie night! Or just... Something.
He's too reclusive lately, it's worrying me.

He's been dealing with a lot of big changes. It's understandable he would need time. But I think you're right. It's getting a little too much. The last thing we need is him getting lost in his head and upsetting himself. He's done so well in such a short space of time.
*Ath continues his actions, biting his cheek to stop himself from making any noise. He switches paws and starts again, but misjudges his strength and cuts too deep again. He cries out loudly in pain, covering his mouth with his paws and shutting his eyes tight, hoping nobody heard*
*Bomba gets up, excited to go to him and do something as a family. When she hears something that sounds suspiciously like a cry, her pace quickens*

*He pushes himself as close to the corner of his room as he can, trying to put as much distance between them as possible*

*Bomba rushes in, she doesn't care about privacy or boundaries right now, not when her baby is like this.
She kneels down beside him*

*she sighs as she rushes forward. Demeter moves to her and puts a paw on her arm, worried cornering Ath will make him act irrationally.*
Bomba... Maybe we should give him a bit of space... Freaking out isn't going to help.

*He glances up at his window, desperate to get out of the situation*

This is a delicate situation. Of course we can't let this continue, but we have to let him come to us. If we chase him, he'll just get sneakier with it, we'll push him away. We have to trust him. If we do, hopefully he'll be able to trust us.
*As soon as the door closes, Ath bursts into tears. Filled with fear and shame, he tries to come up with any excuse for what they just saw. An accident? Someone else's doing? He can't come up with anything, and the thought that he has to face this makes him want to be sick. He shakily stands up and makes his way to the window, desperate for fresh air that might ease his nausea, but his arms hurt too much to open it. He shoves it in defeat, jumping on his bed and hiding under the covers. He continues to sob, holding his paws out above him so they're not rubbing against the sheets*
I know you're right but.... He's so scared to talk about these things, what if he doesn't come to us?
This is too serious to just wait and hope... He needs to know we're here and we can help him, we aren't angry...
*She wipes her eyes, brushing away the tears that had formed there before moving to get the first aid kit*
And... The cuts need to be cleaned! What if he gets an infection?? I can't just let that happen!
