If anyone out there is struggling because theyâre good at their job but it doesnât pay the bills and they are mentally struggling: things can change. You have to make them change but, if you do, it can be so much better.
I started my career in 2019 making $40k and left that job because I was suicidal about it. I put myself in a place where I could feasibly afford to take a couple months off work (and by âoffâ I mean making job hunting a full-time unpaid job) until I could replace that income. I oversold myself purposely and accepted a salary that was âunderâ the range I presented. I am so happy at that job and just got promoted, not making $10k more than they hired me at. I am far from suicidal and only attend therapy once a month for maintenance and to update my lovely therapist on my self-actualizing side quests. My life is fucking great (knock on wood) and I had a plan in place to not see this shit.
I am so glad I stayed. I hope you stay. Itâs gonna be awesome one day.
