Intro Post

Round two, so I'm just gonna copy most of my last one haha.

Hihi! I go by Squid (or Quiet maybe, dunno trying a rebrand so we'll see if Quiet sticks), she/they are both fine. I’m sorta new to whumpblr, and whump as a term, but I’ve always been a fan beating up my scrunklies so whump as a whole isn’t too new to me. 

I regret to inform you that I’m both Furry and Cringe (im not sorry tho) so all my go-to whumpees are fluffy lil bastards. You’ll probably see them in my doodles and drabbles. 

I bring maybe One OC to the table (he's in my header) and otherwise I mostly bring fandom scrungles, right now it's LMK so monkies.

I'm a pretty religious tagger, but you can find specifically my art under the 'doodles' tag.

More realistic whump? Idk exactly, I stumbled on it once and it squicked me out but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly why

Whumpee hooked up to a mind torture device. An “ethical” alternative to physical torture, it leaves the body completely intact as it only tricks the mind into believing any corporal pain and affliction is real. Numerous “punishments” are inflicted on Whumpee—burns, broken bones, whipping, removing fingers, etc.—all completely real in Whumpee’s head.

After so long with the device, Whumpee is finally released. And they can only stare in disassociated horror at their perfectly intact body.

Press that "oxygen" mask onto their face. Watch them struggle to get it off, claw at your arms as you press it further onto their face, their desperation mounting until it slowly starts to peeter out and they fall limp in your arms.

Tie their arms behind their back, watch them whip their head around trying to dislodge it, their shouts of anger slowly turning into cries of desperation as the mask holds firm on their face. Watch as they try to hold their breath, a losing battle you know youve won as soon as you see the condensation of their breath against the clear plastic, the heaving breath ineard that marks your victory. If you watch closely, you can see the exact moment the sparks of angry desperation in their eyes turn into flames of hopelessness.

Strap them down to the operating table. Their eyes follow you suspiciously as you walk into the room with a suspicious tank of something with that damn oxygen mask attached. Do they even struggle as you line up the mask on their face? Or can you already hear the hissing of the gas leaving the tank as they squeeze their wet eyes shut, barely holding back a small crying squeak that you're sure you can hear as you watch that their body go limp and that single tear fall into their hair.

When a character doesn’t realize they’ve been, like, shot or whatever and they hand brushes against their side and comes away wet with blood, and they’re just staring at it like wtf is this and then their knees just totally give out on them and they sink down, maybe gasping a little as the reality finally hits them. That’s good stuff.

I see that, and raise you a character who knows they’ve been shot, but waits until the rest of their crew is out of sight to put their hand against the slowly spreading stain of blood on their shirt, then trying to steady their breathing so they can follow without letting on how injured they are.

Okay but like the character who doesn’t realize they’ve been hurt trying to see if everyone else is okay only to slowly realize that everyone is looking at them with mounting horror. Then they touch their side to find it’s wet and oh no

Badly injured character rolling onto their back or side, gasping for air, eyes unfocused, pained wheezing followed by a little breathless laugh.

when an already injured character gets tossed like a ragdoll into their buddy by some violent force/explosion/magic/collision (pick your poison) and they both go down hard. the shredded and bruised elbows and knees don’t matter, nothing else matters because they have their friend back… except their friend hasn’t moved or talked or made a sound, limp in their arms. so they roll them over in their lap and sure enough they’re passed the fuck out. hey. no, no, no, no. the pleading spills out of them as their hands scurry over the slack planes of their friend’s face, but no matter how much they shake them, or call their name, they remain ashen and bloody, their breathing shaky and stuttering, there but barely, dead to the world for now. stay with me. they pull them close. please stay with me.

as much as I love badass characters pushing through pain to fight, I also love when they hit a point where they just can't. something structural is wrong or broken, so they can't stand. their muscles are simply too weak and overworked to hold them up. their bloody hands slip off the handles of their weapons, they can't aim through their vertigo or tunneling vision, they shake from blood loss or exhaustion even if not from fear. they've just reached their limit, and no amount of willpower will change that!

whump is fun because you see a character and are like “i love you so much that i want to see you sobbing and covered in blood. i need you dying in a hospital bed. i need you cold, wet, and miserable. i love you and want you to suffer unimaginable horrors. then you can have a kiss on the head as a treat”

Currently frothing at the mouth over slow into rapid decline.

Specifically being poisoned.

Some initial thing happening, could be a stab, could be drink. Something they inevitably look past/don't consider being a problem throughout the rest of the day.

Feel a bit off.. maybe an extra glass of water, a pain med, a nap.

By the evening they're feeling bad. Hand hovering over their stomach as the world tips and swims.

Shaking their head to try and ease the symptoms. A splash of cold water that gives them a few more moments of clarity.

Trying to get ahold of a friend, or sending some vague confused texts that someone needs to stop by their apartment. Unlocking their door, and as they try to get back to a couch or bed, their stomach flips, the world dims, slipping from holding the wall, collapsing onto the cool floor. On their knees, Brow covered in sweat, shuddering and curling in on themselves with a soft groan caught in their throat.

Whoever they've contacted finally reaches them. The slow opening of the door.

"Hey I got your message-".

It's too quiet.

They flick on the light in the living room.

Laying there with shallow breaths, hair a mess, shirt clinging to their clammy skin.

The way they slide to their side, gently moving hair, a cool hand on their far too warm forehead. The glazed eyes fluttered, faintly able to make out their friends presence, a moan at being moved. One lost hand trying to find some part of their friend to hold as they semi lucidly murmur.

"I..hh-don't......something's...ngh..wrong.."

DRUGGED WHUMP

Drugged whump is my fucking jam like

-Drugs that make the whumpee talkative and honest

-Promised pain meds that are actually aphrodisiacs

-Drugs that make the whumpee sleepy and vulnerable, becoming drowsy and affectionate even if they usually were terrified or disgusted by their whumper

-Drugs that make the whumpee angry, aggressive, and energetic - easily manipulated in this state to even attack others at the behest of their whumper

-Finally getting pain meds after living in constant pain for ages and being brought to tears by the relief

-Super strong pain meds that make the whumpee slow and stoned, unable to defend themselves verbally or physically

-An allergic reaction to some pain meds or antibiotics - will the whumper risk bringing them to the hospital? Do they have a doctor who will help on the hush? Do they leave their whumpee to suffer through on their own?

- MEDS A WHUMPEE NEEDS TO FUNCTION, do they have to struggle to live without them? Does the whumper give them meds but on the condition of good behavior? Does the whumpee refuse the meds? Does the whumper give them their meds but secretly replace them with something else?

-Drugs that make a whumpee hallucinate - what do they see? Are they scared? Are they emboldened?

-Sleeping meds, keeping the whumpee too drowsy and weak to try to escape

- Stimulants, forcing a whumpee to stay up for days, sleep deprivation, forced labor

- Drugs slipped into food and drink, not knowing what’s happening when they start to feel funny

-Whumpee being forced to eat or drink something they KNOW is drugged but having no choice

-Injecting a whumpee with a syringe, the sharp pain of the injection and then the terrifying realization that they’ve been drugged, begging the whumper to tell them what they just gave them

-The whumpee trying to drug their whumper, maybe hoping to make an escape attempt, but being caught and forced to consume whatever it was themselves

- Starving a whumpee and then finally offering them some food, they know it is drugged but struggle to resist the temptation of the food, they are just so hungry

- Drugging a whumpee and letting them go, them being so overwhelmed with relief that they can finally escape, only to collapse just a few feet away from freedom

-Making a whumpee dependent on drugs, so they become even more dependent on their whumper, their Whumper threatening to take away the drugs as punishment knowing the horrible withdrawals they would go through from being cut off

- Drugs that paralyze the whumpee while leaving them conscious, the whumper getting to manipulate their body like a doll while they are horrified but unable to struggle

-Drugs that paralyze the whumpee’s legs, so they have to drag themselves anywhere they go

Personal possessions that theyre given full ownership of. Nobody can touch their stuff without their permission and that's. That's never been a thing before.

Being able to leave their living space a little messy. There is no handler to come in for inspection and beat them bloody for not doing their bed

Sitting down in soft, padded couches instead of having to stay on their feet lest be considered lazy for "slacking off on duty"

Choosing how they want to be called

Consent. People only touch them if they ask first, and if they say yes.

Having their "no" respected.

Having their opinion on things considered and taken seriously in general

Being taken care of when sick or having a bad day

Being held and soothed through a difficult moment instead of yelled at and told to get it together

Having money of their own. Financial agency to buy things for themselves, without having to ask anyone else, without having to depend on caretaker for gifts. It's their call. They can get whatever they want

Whumpees whose powers/magic are so integral to them that that blocking the abilities is like blocking their breathing. The same power-dampening tech or anti-magic that weakens others will kill them within hours.

What happens if they are captured? Do they desperately explain that the standard protocol isn’t going to work, and promise to obey without it? Are they sedated? Restrained more tightly in other ways? More importantly, are they even believed?

And if the dampener is activated, how long does it take their captors to realize that the whumpee wasn’t lying?

Whump trope I can never get enough of is character who has been used/abused offering themselves up for the same kind of abuse to the people they love as a show of devotion.

Like, abused character telling their found family, "You can hit me if you want."

Living Weapon offering their services to new team, asking to be given orders.

Sexually abused character offering their body to their new partner or even people they aren't romantically involved with.

It's the "I love you, but the only way I know how to show love is to allow you to use me." It's "people used to hurt me without my permission, but I love you so much that you have permission." It’s "I trust you so much that I even trust you to hurt me."

And cue horrified Caretakers who have to rush to reassure them that they would never hurt them, that hurting people isn't love, that they want to protect them instead of use them.

nonhuman whumpee being sensitive to things humans arentttt my beloved…. Maybe them and the team are travelling, when they start to feel nauseous and dizzy? A mushroom’s spores reacting to their lungs in ways they don’t with humans. An enemy/whumper using this against them, pumping some chemical Whumpee’s body can’t handle into a room, using it to capture or harm them? They start to feel dizzy and sick, their head clouding up and eyes unfocusing. Maybe they can’t eat chocolate or grapes like dogs can’t, and they have to use synthetic alternatives? Caretaker having no clie what’s happening as each breath Whumpee takes in, they grow more confused, more weak.

Thinking about whumpees who act like an injured animal. They will not show weakness, they will not show pain. And when it gets to a point where it's unbearable, they will find somewhere to hunker down and wait it out -- or die.

And if someone does notice and come looking for them, they lash out at anyone who tries to help them.

"Get the fuck away from me." "Whumpee, you're bleeding." "I don't care. Fuck off."

And thinking about once the team knows about this habit of theirs: "Whumpee started limping this afternoon." "Shit, our last fight was days ago. How long have they been hiding this?" "I don't know. They won't let me near them. But if it's to the point where they can't hide it... I'm worried." "Don't let them out of your sight. I don't want a repeat of last time."

But until the team learns about it... lots of fun you can have.

I'm imagining a whumpee coming back from a mission or something and avoiding the others for a few days. It's not unusual. Whumpee's never social at the best of times, let alone after a stressful mission. But when the absences tick over into almost a week, the team starts to get worried. Usually whumpee at least says something.

So they go and check on them, and find whumpee dangerously ill. Like, "you should have been in the ER yesterday" ill.

Imagine the guilt the team feels for not checking in sooner. Imagine how surprised and confused whumpee would be to wake up alive in a hospital/infirmary bed.

Is the team angry with whumpee? Is that anger deserved? Did whumpee try to reach out, but by then it was too late? (Too weak to get out of bed, etc.) Is whumpee angry about being saved? (Self-sacrificial characters who don't get to die, my beloved.)
